Just back from Thajiwas glacier day before 16/5/23. It took us 1hr from sonmarg by pony and my husband could easily walk with us. The pony ride was comfortable and not as scary as Pahalgam. Firdaus pony wala is very good and cooperative. They charge exorbitantly. We paid 2000/- per pony after a lot of bargaining. Glacier view is worth the ride. I highly recommend this . Once u reach up you will get ample sledge option, do not fall into the trap of horsewala union. Sledge they start asking from 800/- and it goes down to 100/-. Please hire pony ride yourself, it will be cheaper. As the drivers too take commission.

Your information is wrong. If you walk, it will take around 1hour to 1hour 15 minutes. 🙂 It'll take almost same by pony or horse because horse guide also go by walking not galloping.
