One of the reasons why Sonny and Cher divorced was because of Sonny's heavy drinking. I remembered reading that a few times Sonny Bono was DRUNK AS A SKUNK on the show during the taping of the show. In a couple of the episodes of the Sonny and Cher show you could tell that he was drunk. I was glad that Sonny Bono got sober when he became Mayor of Palm Springs. He would have been such a good President of the United States. Sadly he died. He wanted to run in 2000. But he died from a skiing accident in 1998.
