Harry thought Lily was the best choice for Sonny because she was a good mobster wife , usually those mobsters marry women like Lily so I guess harry naturally loved Lily because he recognized her kind right away but Brenda for him was everything wrong , sucker ! Brenda was a real woman and obviously Harry couldnt admit that.

Oh, the moment I'm talking about is the Luke&Sonny convo about Lily's father gives Sonny a choice. For me, that was the one time I noticed that Sonny was really being honest with himself. Love vs. Trust, Jail vs. Freedom/Power. Sonny had a lot on his mind. LOL!!! MB and VM were THE BEST. They played angst like no other couple in soap history. The sold the hell out of S&B. BRAVO!!!

Exactly. He thought he could live without love but he realized he couldn't. Once Lily got pregnant, he knew that being there for his child was more important than anything else. That goes back to Sonny's childhood. It was his chance to be the father he never had. That's why S&B will always be my #1 all-time favorite soap couple. They were more realistic rather than soapy. The angst made sense. The writing for GH back then was simply amazing.

At that moment,I truly believe Sonny wasn't lying to himself. He was thinking with his head, instead of his heart. ITA. Both Sonny and Brenda were two very selfish people. Of course, Sonny was going to take advantage of the opportunity to have more power in the mob world. That's why he stayed. He loved the power. All Brenda wanted was to be with Sonny.TPTB need to get rid of Guza and Phelps's ass and bring back the Labines and Wendy.I hated LeeLee at 16yrs old when I just wanted my S&B together.

Lily did it because she was in love with Sonny. She knew that was the only way she could keep him. Plus, deep down inside Sonny knew that he couldn't trust Brenda. He needed a woman he could trust given the business he was in. The convo he has with Luke after he meets with Lily's father is great. Sonny told Luke that he could dream a life would Brenda but he didn't know how to make it a reality. He thinks he could live without love but he knows he can't live without trust. Does that help?
