I love how he confirms that Colonel Parker was willing to be the bad guy so Elvis didn't need to take the heat for certain decisions, yet the Colonel never badmouthed Elvis. Never wrote a tell-all book. Never told salacious stories about him.

Elvis was probably not in the best shape mentally or physically when "A Star is born" was offered to him, so I can believe Parker would take the heat for Elvis not doing that role, however, that doesn't change the fact that it was Parker's outdated, unscrupulous business demands that were responsible for many missed opportunities regarding Elvis's career throughout the 1960s movie time-period and 1970s Vegas years. IMO Elvis should have fired his manager soon after getting out of the army, and definitely by the time of the 68 Comeback Special, but probably because he'd been a good promotor for him in the 50s and had kept his career alive while he was in Germany, unfortunately, Elvis stuck with him. Any good manager would have considered what Elvis wanted and needed creatively along with financial gain, and made the best deals accordingly, but Parker's only motivator was money!

Oh come on... Next to Jerry Schilling, he wrote in his second book the most loving tribute to Elvis. He truly loved him. Elvis was his own worst enemy. No one is responsible but Elvis ultimately for what happened to him. They gave their lives to him...I believe they were cut out because they were trying to cut off his drug supply from his step brothers. Everything they said was true...did they break a code of silence yes but your supposed to when someone is harming themselves.
