Thank you for sharing your experience. Every woman is different when it comes to if the procedure is painful or just uncomfortable. For me it was moderately painful but nothing like the pain I experienced with the HSG procedure. That was a pain I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

So I had a SIS/SHG yesterday and it felt like nothing, I was soooo relieved. I’ve never had kids and I had an HSG 2 years ago and that procedure was rough so I was a nervous wreck going into my SHG. I didn’t feel the catheter which was weird and it was not the balloon catheter. I didn’t feel the saline at first, and then just felt some slight cramps/pressure around where my ovaries are. That lasted like 8 seconds. They said they were gonna use the least amount of fluid necessary. Props to Boston IVF in Bedford, NH! I took 1,000 mg of ibuprofen an hour before the procedure.

This is legit the most information I've ever heard about this. I had an hsg which is very similar just done with X-rays instead of ultrasound. Super uncomfortable. But this is definitely going help some people. Go you 😘

I had mine done today. Saline infusion sonogram. When they put the catheter in I got a very sharp cramp... cramp kept coming for 1/2 a minute and it was very intense. I didn't feel any pain after that. I had taken Xanax and extra strength Tylenol beforehand.

I’m getting mine done tomorrow and I’m so nervous and after watching this I’m not sure if I’m more or less nervous... gah. Thank you for the video tho! Edit: got it done and it wasn’t bad at all. The first part where they open you up truly feels like a Pap smear. The part that’s a little uncomfortable able for me is the transvaginal ultrasound. There’s basically 2 ppl poking you at the same time lol. It’s done and over with in about 5 mins. Bring a pad!!!

I had mine 2days ago. Didn't hurt at all! I took 2 ibuprofen400 2hours before and felt nothing, no cramps, no pain except a small pressure when the cervix's tool inserted.

I did it this Friday and it did not hurt at all. What happens is that it is uncomfortable. Take ibuprofen 800 mlg 2 hours before. And most importantly they have to RELAX.

I did this today like an hour ago, trust me it’s not that bad, it was very uncomfortable the only time I felt like actual killer pain was when they pumped the saline water in, it feels like a really bad period pain and lot of pressure, it’s very quick, other than that it wasn’t bad as I thought at all, I was so scared too but it was pretty good and actual pain only lasted like a minute or 2. Now I’m having slight cramping and leaking, u have to wear a pad. Don’t be afraid, and most important thing is relax during the procedure. Also make sure you take an Advil or 2 half hour before the procedure Good luck :)🙂

Thank you for sharing your personal experience! Your video was very helpful. My sonohyysterogram is scheduled for later in my cycle. They didn’t even ask me what day of the cycle I was going to be then :( I have a structure on the top of my uterus and they want to investigate further. You stated this procedure is usually done on day 5-6 after the period, when the linning is thin. So I guess my doctor will not be able to check the linning of my uterus bc mine will be done on day 20 of my cycle. Do you know anything about this please?

Which test is correct,,,,I Had both hsg, and ssg,,,,in hsg I have one Tube fine another is mild swelling it may be hydrosalpinx, ,,,,but ssg both tube patent, ,,,am totally confused

Thank you so much for sharing. That helped. My OBGYN suggested I may have to have one because of a possible polyp on my uterus. They do not answer my questions well. Can I ask, does the insertion of the catheter hurt? Is the cramping similar to a bad period cramp or worse? Did it feel like a fast procedure once they started? I was told that they dilate, is it true that one has to be dilated first? Blessings~

Beatriz Firpo it wasn’t bad at all! At least for me. Yes it was a little uncomfortable but in no way was it painful. I figured I would be crampy after but I wasn’t. I did take three ibuprofen an hour before though so maybe that’s what helped a bit. I hope yours goes well!

Beatriz Firpo they had a hard time getting the Cather to pass into my uterus, that part was a little uncomfortable but NOT painful. Praying everything goes great for you!

I scheduled and HSG and they did a Sonohysterogram. Smh. They didn’t check my lining as they did with you , plus I was on day 10 and they couldn’t get a good picture. They mentioned it might be because of my flipped uterus. After they said both my tubes were blocked they wanted to schedule me for an HSG which is what I was suppose to have in the first place. I should have never went to that place and gone where my fertility doctor initially recommended. Now to wait until my next cycle Yes the procedure was uncomfortable mainly when they injected the saline

I am going in for this test today,I get so nervous when I have to have any test done.I had a heart attack 2 months ago so I hope this isn't going to affect anything going on there ,I know I can't take any motrin or advil for pain tho :( I just hope this goes quick and easy...thanks for the info

I really appreciate you sharing your story about Asherman. I have had 2 miscarriages/chemical pregnancies (not even sure if it was a ‘miscarriage’ or failed implantation) in the last 3.5 months. Crazy. My OB just isn’t answering questions, so I have a consult with a RE in a week. I had D&C 7 years ago, and I had horrible bleeding for weeks after. I’m afraid. I am just beginning this journey, and I really don’t know much. Your videos have been very informative. I wish you and your husband the best and many blessings! Maybe it’s not something you would like to share, (I think you did one video mentioning the specific cost of a certain treatment), but I was curious what the cost of hysteroscopy and sonohystogram was. My insurance will not cover fertility treatments. At this point it’s either buy a house or $$$ have a baby. Getting pregnant doesn’t seem an issue for me but the carrying of the baby... Again, thank you and many many many blessings!!!

@@b1zmyi34 Yes, I went to a RE and they did a hysteroscopy and blood work. Thankfully, I had no scarring/polyps and no uterine incompetence (I think that’s how you say it). The only thing he found was that I had subclinical hypothyroidism. I was really skeptical that this would be an issue because it was only like .5 from what is considered ideal (I forget the exact numbers). I had even had blood work done with my PCP just a couple months before, and doctor said that it looked ‘perfect.’ Again, I was skeptical and frankly pissed. The doctor said came back after 6 months to a year taking thyroid medication and if no luck, we‘ll try IVF. That was BS because he even told me I wasn’t formally being treated for infertility. Anywayyyyyyyy, the man must know what he is talking about because I started taking Levothyroxine in August and pregnant is October. I’m almost 9 week. I’m going to attribute it to that - it would be too much of a coincidence not to. I wish you the best and blessings!

@@b1zmyi34 thank you! Ask your OB for a referral to a local fertility specialist. I would also try not testing before your missed period. I waited a whole week late to test. Lol Do what you think is the best route for you, but I know I was concerned that maybe I had scarring or something of that nature that was preventing successful implantation. Second, was my concern of a incompetent cervix. My insurance does not cover IVF, but it did cover the cost of all preliminary tests with the Reproductive Endocrinologist (like the hysteroscopy).

I watched this video last night since my appointment was this morning. It was quite uncomfortable. I didn't find it felt like a cramp, more like sharp pain inside while the catheter was in. It felt like scraping inside. It lasted a bit longer for me because they injected 2 syringes of saline in me instead of one. So maybe total duration was about 4 minutes of discomfort rather than 3 minutes. I also got nauseous afterwards, even ended up hurling. I believe this was not due to the test but was a side effect of the antibiotics.

No, I wasn't given antibiotics for this. I'm not sure why that would even be necessary? Yes, the hubby was able to come in there with me. It's performed in just a regular sonogram room :) Best of luck to you.

I had this test and it was a NIGHTMARE. The test itself was fine and over quickly and I only felt a mild cramp, but the hours after were the MOST PAINFUL and severe cramps of my life and the next day I was in so much pain and soreness in my lower abdomen that I ended up in the ER. It felt like someone hit me multiple times with a baseball bat in my lower abdomen.....if you even think you’re OK, don’t do this test. In my case, it was torture for 2-3 days after the test.

um I had a normal transvaginal ultrasound; do they always use this saline solution in regular transvaginal ultrasounds or is it a separate thing you ask to get from the doc? Cuz if it is that blue green thing they used it was painless for me. lmao they didn't tell me anything. Guess I should ask more questions. Seriously that was the most painless thing I've ever had I was so happy lmao...

I made the mistake and did internet research and oh boy did it scare the hell out of me. But rest assure that you won't feel a thing when the catheter is inserted. To me it just felt like really bad cramps for a few minutes but it goes away after procedure. I had invisioned labor pain cramps for some reason but no, it feels more like menstrual cramps....

Do not be afraid, I had it done 5 days ago and it was painless. Took 600 mg of ibuprofen 1 hour prior and no pain at all during the procedure. Just had cramping for the rest of that day and the day after and was fine on the third day.

Mine was very painful too. I cant believe this is done without pain medication. Terrible cramping. I was in tears and had to stop before the doctor could do biopsy for cancer
