I think it will, I pre-ordered my Arc Ultra today 🙈. My current set-up is Arc, two era 300’s, and two sub’s (gen 3’s). I doubt I’ll update my subs, but I’ll wait for the reviews and comparisons before I rule it out completely. Anyway, the reason I’m betting on the performance being much better is because once I upgraded my Sonos One SL’s to the Era 300’s, the boost was incredible and to be honest, the atmos performance started to outshine the original arc. This is understandable as Sonos had of course improved their engineering since the ARC came out. The Ultra I’m sure will solve the performance gaps I started to hear. I can’t freakin wait.

For instance, Sony tvs even the most expansive still only offer 2 hdmi 2.1 ports and one of them is the Earc port which effectively means that if you use a sonos soundbar you are left with a single hdmi 2.1 port. Ideally this new arc soundbar would have included 1 hdmi 2.1 input port. Its just make sense because having 4 hdmi ports doesnt mean you are happy wasting one for a soundbar that does nothing else than sound while the competitors almost all have a input or even 2.

Ok so I understand you dont have this product yet, but to quote its capable of '9.1.4' when there appears to be only 2 upward firing speakers seems a bit of an over reach. The other interesting item to note is the shrinking weight of the Sub. It started with Gen1/2 being 16kg and is now listed as just over 11kg. Thats quite a weight saving based on what I wonder?

@@gilbertorodriguez2301 I think it’s pretty sad that they just keep rolling out generations of the same old underwhelming subwoofer for over a decade now. The mini is basically as good for half the price. Sonos needs to give us a version of a traditional 12” subwoofer in a box so we can actually hit some decent lows within our setup. I have 5 Sonos subs( a gen 1, gen, 2, gen 3, and two sub minis) all in the same general area of my house, because I’m basically trying to make up for the lack of punch these things provide as compared to a good traditional powered sub in a box.

All I know is I will not be spending anymore $ with what ever they come out

The era 300 used them as surrounds they disable the front woofer if you want to use them for music you have unpair them as surrounds is crazy just because they say so I’m the one that paid a grand for them let me decide what I want and what sounds best for me thing is the ARC for music is horrible I don’t even bother at all with music unlike the playbar which it was a all around soundbar music and movies and raw power way better mids than the arc by far but I let my self get influenced by this bias you tubers on top of everything the older the product or the less they sell they raise the prices by 100$ every 8 months or so the arc ultra by spring next year it will be $1,200

I currently have en ARC and never really felt I needed a sub although I live in a flat. But I am considering upgradering as the resale value for the ARC is okay. Majer downside of the ARC was the lack of music playback which was kinda lacking. Not it's primary function but would be great if the Ultra did a tiny bit better :)

Depends on the upgrade. Is it worth investing in a soundbar that’s capable of Bluetooth and has more bass? I have the setup you mentioned and I still have the Playbar. The Playbar has more bass than the Arc. I do think I would upgrade to Arc Ultra if the reviews are good and my personal experience is satisfactory.

Understand arc ultra and sub4 has mayht tech whereas era300 is still on old Sonos tech. This would be like combining 2 diff brand of speakers into a home theatre setup. Will this affect the sound signature?

Thinking outside of the box, this is highly likely to completely change the portable speaker game. There's been little to distinguish portable speakers over the last 10 years, other than price and preference, but if this sounds as good as they claim in such a small package, implementation in a form factor like the Roam is a no brainer and could revolutionise the market.

Not sure why Sonos can’t give us an adjustable dialogue volume slider for the original Arc within the controller? The dialogue clarity button makes a very minimal difference - on, or off. I also think Sonos missed the boat not going back to a rectangle shaped cabinet similar to the playbar. That would allow for the base drivers to move more air within the unit. The original arc’s lack of base is totally caused by it’s cabinet design. They should have given us more HDMI ports, and DTS decoding at that price. Sheer laziness on the part of the company for giving us a 4th generation of the exact same underwhelming subwoofer.

I sold away my full Arc+Sub+Ones sound system earlier this year as I have bought an Apple Vision Pro (AVP). I think sound systems like these are going the way of the vinyl - i.e., for niche applications, as better and cheaper headsets come out. The movie experience in the AVP far exceeds what one can get for the same price with a full home theatre system. Plus it is portable and can travel with you.

@@Edouble71 Pretty much most of them lol. If your TV doesn't have an eARC port for Atmos true hd you can bypass plugging directly into the bar itself. Some TVs won't support DTS so this also allows this to work. It usually also cures lip sync issues if you ever experience those going directly into the bar. If your TV only has 2 hdmi 2.1 ports one usually being eARC also allows you to use multiple gaming consoles if you have more than 1 etc.

I held off moving from a Beam Gen 1 to Arc as knew a Gen2 Arc would be due, now technically here it is. Currently I run a Beam, Gen2 Sub, and 2x Ones. Tried the Arc from Sonos direct, and returned it after testing, wasn’t impressed by the center channel, it sounded like a massive void in the middle of my TV, I hope Ultra will fixed that.

the usual ARC is great, there is not reason to "upgrade" at all, especially if you got it half price from the new one

Thank you for the video. A key question for many of us is whether it makes sense to upgrade to Sonos Arc Ultra if you already have Arc + Era 300 as surrounds and Dual Sub. And whether front height channels have improved and auto tuning. Thank you

I "kinda" have the same issue with my 77" with the v1 Arc, dual subs, and Fives. I talked the spouse into upgrading the master bedroom 55" TV+Beam v1 to 65" and moving the older Arc v1 (Move old 55"+Beam to spare room). Being able to mix/match/add/move Sonos around as needed was a big selling point and the reason for dumping my old Nakamichi 7.2.4.
