I need this in a Play 3 form factor. I understand that having it as a play one makes it the cheapest HiFi smart speaker you can buy, but I don't need a smart speaker in my bathroom, I need it in my room where my Play 3s live or in my living room where I have Play3s as part of my surround sound.

I used to work at a bar and while Sonos was great in that it allowed various music streaming services to be played, the UI was unintuitive and a bit messy. Hopefully this new speaker will be accompanied by an app update to make music selection easier, faster, and prettier.

would be great to have reviews from people who listened to both of them side by side / compare them to each other and other devices to tell what's & how much better is one device to another, so you get a feeling what to buy .. sound quality should be the number one priority, right? Otherwise you can't really judge, if the Google Max is really that overpriced when it sounds extremely good.

Siri isn't coming to the speaker, but Apple's AirPlay 2 is next year. So you'll be able to tell Siri on your phone to play things on the Sonos.

Matt MADISON The homepod will at best try to replace the Play3s and Siri implementation is not where Apple would like it to be, so if you go look at that press conference again, they are selling it to you as a speaker that will have (eventually) really good Siri support, but for now, they are just selling an expensive speaker which could replace Play1s, maybe Play3s but not Play5s.
