Sonos Port Vs. WiiM Player - Stop buying overpriced Sonos Now!

If one had multiple Sonos speakers all around their house already and wanted to use something in a dedicated home theater room, do you feel it makes more sense to spend more for the Port and stay in the ecosystem or go with the WiiM Pro Plus?

I would never use Sonos for Home Theater. If you plan to play the same music in the house and theater then adding a port would be a valid option. If it is a stand-alone room I would use the function in your receiver to get music in that area!

I think you are overlooking some important things. Sonos supports apple music, Sirius XM, and internet radio. Sonos has been successful for well over a decade. They continue to support old hardware. I have 10 Sonos zones that are almost 15 years old, and they still work really well. The system doesn't feel dated at all. How long do you expect a cheap Chinese knockoff to be supported? Port vs AMP. What are some cheap amps that are as good as Sonos at $1 per watt? You said that Alexa integration is better on Wiim. How so? It's also worth mentioning that Sonos does have a complete echo system - AMPs, Subs, Ports, various speakers, and soundbars that are all integrated nicely.

We will have to disagree on this. I see the WiiM amps going head to head with a sonos at over 1/2 the price. Several large CI companies are not using these including Origin Acoustics who is offering it as a sku. Sonos has its ace but I see a lot of lazy installers just smelling this in home when they could easily give a better more cost effective options.

Both Wiim Pro and Wiim Pro Plus are Hi-Res streamers. The main difference is Pro Plus has a "better" dac chip and comes with a remote.

Correct. Very Very impressed with the PRO PLUS. If they can some solid integration into Control4, RTI and others they will be unstoppable!

Sonos right now is a dumper fire. They can't even get there app right. Bluesound, Musicast and yes Wiim are superior solutions.

Clearly you don't like Sonos. Would be much better if you reviewed both items, but this whole video was moaning about sonos, but you didn't convince me to buy anything.else.

My take on sonos is even worst now. They have cost integrators millions of dollar in lost revenues due to app update issues, Not too mention there brand in general is falling fast. Custom a/v guys are using different equipment. If it help the WiiM at 149.00 sounds better than a 449.00 port. That's. 300.00 savings for a better piece of equipment.
