They need to support surround set-up with Roam/Roam SL and Move. You should also try Stereo Roam with the Move in the center for some bass for fun sake.

@@PeterPee I learned that the bluetooth capable Sonos devices don’t support Sonos Net, that’s why they don’t have surround function. Whether the Sonos Net support is crippled due to software or hardware is another mystery.

Hi Peter I have a Move and a Roam. Instead of spending money on a pair of Fives, I thought it would be cool with an extra Move. No other channel has made a video on pairing 2 Moves, and since you have done many videos on the Fives, I believe it would be a cool comparison and audio test to showcase. You could even do a comparison with the new microphone to investigate the difference between the audio from a pair of Moves vs A pair of Fives. Thanks for the videos and hope you find this idea intriguing

I think the Sonos Roam would have benefited with the addition of a passive radiator for added bass. The soundstage was nice but the bass lacked. I love Sonos speakers. I was underwhelmed by the one Sonos roam speaker I tried

Hey Peter, quick one. Can you buy a roam and a roam SL, link them in stereo pair and will the active trueplay of the Roam be linked across the two devices?

Excellent video. One thing I want to know and I have not search the answer enough is if they enabled the auto trueplay calibration when you have only one roam with mic in the stereo paired setup. Also they will have my money for a pair of these automatically once they allow to add them on a surround setup. Wife does not allow cables and setting platforms for speakers in the living room. Otherwise im out since there are plenty of cheaper speakers with almost equal performance and that are a lot more energy efficient.

Auto trueplay only works in stereo when BOTH are Roam speakers and both have mics. If one of the stereo pair is a Roam SL, auto trueplay doesn't work.

Nope. Both the Roams and the Moves cannot be used as surround. The logic is that they are supposed to be portable so when they are out of range of the surround setup, the surround will break.

My headphones are planar magnetic on some good amplifier hardware hooked to my PC. Thus, I have no idea if the Roams sound this good or if it is just my hardware on my end lol ... I owned a roam once and it sounded stuffy and underwhelming to me.

Peter Pee, I have a quick question that’s a bit out of context of video. Would you do Sonos arc/ 1 sub/ 2 fives or Sonos arc/ 2 subs/ 2 Sonos ones. Before you say, why not get Sonos arc/2 subs/ 2 fives. My wife already letting me get 83 LG g2. This will complete my set. If I push to 2 fives with 2 sub. She might castrate me 😭. This is mainly for movies and gaming with the kids. Thank you for any advice that you can give me.

My advice is to convince your kids that the 2 subs + 2 fives will make them game better. :) Then let them convince their mother. Jokes aside, definitely 2 subs rather than 2 fives.

@@PeterPee Thank you Peter. One last question. Have you had the chance to try the HT-A9/sub from Sony. I’m struggling to decide between the 2. I hear Sony surround is top notch and better than Sonos. Ps. Btw, I think I found a way to convince the wife to get me the 2 fives and 2 subs lol. Just needed to give me loving tender satisfaction 😂😂😂.

Hi Stephen, much as I am a fan, I can’t say it is audiophile grade. It’s for mobile use and it’s not intended to deliver critical listening experience.

You misunderstood. Roam sounds better as a stereo pair. Roam and Roam SL do sound identical.

The stereo setup improves tremendously but Hendrik is right, on its own, the Roam SL sounds identical to the Roam save for the Auto trueplay making changes to the sound profile.
