Give you a neat tip for using arp headstuds. Assemble them as a ‘bolt’ and install them all in easy as. There’s enough thread on the top end to be more than certain you’re getting the stud into the block and the lube holds it all together :)

I was taught to undo head studs, cam bolts etc. from the outside in, opposite to the way you tighten them. I guess it was fine though as I see your engines running great. Good to know, I have always been scared of messing with cams.

You are correct. The manual says that also. Don't do it the way I did. Do it the way the manual says for sure 👌

You can with 3/8th drive not half inch had the same issue with arp studs.

When you get to the end you're meant to have left over bolts, not dowels hahahaha

Hey driftsquid, A random question for you. Just wondering the bolt that holds the inlet cam gear on did it have a washer? I know the R33 has one. I'm still building my S2 Stagea. Trying to get it right. Thanks for forgetting the Dowel pins, made me remember mine. Your studs must be big daddy ones. My ARP head nuts were 1/2" I managed to torque mine up with cams on, with a 1/2" deep socket multi-point 1/2" drive with most of the length ground down.

Have u got big boy arp studs mine wer 13mm not 16mm..shouldn't you work your way from outside to inside removing cams

It doesn't matter so much for removing the cam but for the head you want to go the opposite of what the torque map is
