Thanks for dedicating an entire video to highlight that capability. So much talk about the xy as a groove box, but rarely as an instrument by itself. I play my field a lot just for the sounds. The xy is sooo much more capable in that regard and deserves more credit. Show me a synth that gives you 8 layers of sounds with that much flexibility ("only 4 settings per layer" aside...)

Great video! THANKS! One thing I thought of that might be interesting is to duplicate the wavetable and assign a different waveform to each instrument, thus having a kind of multiple oscillator.

Thanks for making these videos, I find it wild the TE hasn't really made any tutorial content to support the release. For such an expensive device it blows my mind, but that's where you come in!

One of the most overlooked features I think, so many people say that the synth engines on the XY is to simple and generic, but once we start linking them like this it becomes super powerful. And if we want free upp some tracks there's always the possibility to resample the sound to a sampler or multisampler

Was wondering why nobody was talking about this. I use the XY more as an instrument than a sequencer/groovebox and have found it superb for being able to quickly and easily add deterministic depth to a riff...it’s defo more than the sum of its parts. Great demo! And thanks also for highlighting why the XY is so appealing despite the price tag and v1 bugs...it’s more fun than most modern hardware :)

@@kierenmoore3236 not everything is or needs to be...not found the stumbling blocks just yet in my working process honestly (I use the OP's in my day job and need a fair bit of speedy "how did I get here" with the sounds). It's more about having the right tools with a focused application that can be generative in the areas it's needed, rather than hinging the entire featureset on doing the creative hardlifting for you

Hey Son, love these xy videos. Like you, I received my xy which had issues. It had a lot of dead pixels. Luckily for me, I seen your first video and decided to keep the shipping box incase there were any issues. I shipped the xy back and now awaiting replacement. Ps. You don't sound Japanese, more like German.

Something you perhaps missed… you can link directly from brain. If XY is stopped, you can still play the keys on brain (and therefore the linked track) but brain will also trigger all the other tracks that are unmuted, for as long as you hold down a key. Essentially you are playing the linked track, and brain is causing the other tracks to follow and back up the track you have linked to, all with transposition. A power instrument and sound shaping tool! Something to try: link brain to a track that itself is linked to other tracks. ;)
@LimeBath
@LimeBath 20 күн бұрын
For example, you can sequence one of the other tracks to play a chord after 8 steps. Then you play a note on brain, holding the note until the 8th step is reached and the chord is triggered (and transposed). All while the XY is stopped.
@SONWU
@SONWU 20 күн бұрын
Thanks for pointing it out, I saved that for a potential brain track video in future ;)

I'm a complete newb. But I'm learning! Q: At a basic level what is the difference between the OP-1 and the OP-XY? It's seeming to me that they both do the functionality of the other. But does one have a strength in a certain area of music creation (one is a better sequencer, one is a better synth?) over the other? Do you need both? If you could only pick one for a newb to start making beats and ambient tracks which is a quicker intro into the system? Thanx, Lip

OP-XY is a sequencer & MULTI-timbral synth. OP-1f is a 4 track tape recorder & MONO-timbral synth. OP-XY is easier and more useful in my opinion. Hope this helps!
