Best review thus far! I love people who actually show you footage that one is most likely to shoot. Not facing a camera at a wall and thinking you're doing justice to the review

That was such a practical review, thanks! This makes a lot more sense than looking at charts in terms of actually filming video.

Hey man, excellent review of the new Sony 24-70mm lens! You showed everything that matters for video and as you said, IQ wise the lenses appear nearly identical... Physically though, the new lens is way smaller, lighter weight, better balanced, and offers the latest lock switches which I also prefer. I did expect a bit more contrast on the new lens, but it's really hard to tell one way or another. Keep up the great work Josh 👊

Helpful review; the smooth to tight feature is common on telephotos…interesting to see it on the 24-70

Interesting, I noticed the V1 has more saturated greens vs v2 being more neutral but not bad. I like that they are similar.

Great analysis! Very honest and without any hype! The new GM II isn't really great step forward to the GM I. So probably not the price worth!

Why the GM1 look more 3D pops for me?

FIRST! I cannot freaking stand my Sigma 24-70. It has sucked in more dust than a vacuum and I honestly have barely used it. I tried sending it in to one of Sigma's centers, but they said that since I bought it in Vietnam the warranty isn't valid 😡 Very frustrated with the company right now so this lens may be a better alternative for me. Great video, Josh! The size and weight difference is nice. Doesn't seem like the price difference is worth the minimal change in the two though.
@Josh_Sattin2 жыл бұрын
Dylan! If you lean heavily on a 24-70 then it might be a good upgrade considering the style of filming that you do. I’ve heard the earlier versions of the Sigma had the dust issue and they fixed it eventually. That is a bummer for sure though.
@dylanjohndickerson2 жыл бұрын
@@Josh_Sattin I had heard that too, but figured that the lens I was getting would be fine. I can't even use the lens because it looks like there's tons of dots on my image. It's basically a paperweight. Thanks for the recommendation man. I'll probably end up going with the GM II due to the size and weight difference.
@Josh_Sattin2 жыл бұрын
Sorry dude. That's a huge bummer. I would definitely be looking at picking up a new lens then. And yes, the size/weight is a big difference between the GM and GM II.

@@dylanjohndickerson Hey Dylan, when did you purchase your lens? I was about the sigma 24-70 because I thought that was an issue with older lenses only...second guessing it now

Is gm ii Good for filming at low light conditions with fx3
@Josh_Sattin Жыл бұрын
The FX3 is well known for filming in low light. The GM II will do just as good as any other F2.8 lens.

I built up my equipment while building my other KZbin channel over the course of several years. When I could afford to, I would reinvest into the business. Now I have a good amount of stuff, I am always buying and selling gear. Mostly because I can never decide on what to use. There are so many cool cameras and lenses. That's kind of why I started this channel.

@@Josh_Sattin oh for sure, I love it and sort of do the same. Always appreciate when people can see past a single brand loyalty to have a more objective opinion too
@Josh_Sattin2 жыл бұрын
For sure! I realized this after going back and forth with Sony and Canon a few times. I do think it helps bring perspective to a video type channel too. I'd like to have even more brands if I could afford it.

Great review as always Josh. I have the RF24 70 and a Sony system but no 24-70 on the Sony's. Would you be able to compare the GM1 and 2 against the RF? I think it's a subject that might be interesting to lots of people. Thank you for one more great review/comparison. Cheers
@Josh_Sattin2 жыл бұрын
That would be cool, but frankly I'm not sure which cameras would match the closest so that the comparison would be fair. Having now used both the RF 24-70 and the 24-70 GM II, they are both amazing lenses and I have zero complaints about either one.
@bncprado2 жыл бұрын
@@Josh_Sattin yeah. The only capable of 8k is the a1. That would be a "fair" comparison regarding video
