I really like Sony's normal FE lenses without G or GM. They are not so bad as some people claim. Focus rings turn nicely and their simplistic design without switches and buttons is very appealing to me. You can definitely get good shots with them! However, I wish they would give us a remake of the 50/1.8 which is quieter than the existing one. It's halfway pointless to spend 2-3x the money on Samyang's 50/1.4 II if you have to stop it down to f2.2/f2.5 to get sharp results while the 50/1.8 is better right at max aperture.

@@dasignarts I hasn't figured out yet how to deal with ridiculously low resolution and 1:1 ratio of Instagram. Only posted 3-4 picturea there and absolutely hate it. I'm more a FB guy, have a few decent photos there. 😂 I have a crazy idea for you. You talk about restrictions that actually make you more creative. I wonder if you want to try a UWA challenge with a 9mm/2.8 Laowa lens on a cropped camera. I sometimes travel only with this lens on a cheap X-A5 body and it is so much fun... Plenty of sharpness to crop, nice colors, plenty of perspective distortions if you do it wrong, but the results are sometimes very rewarding. It changed the way I think about framing and composition. I am sure your creativity will blossom if you take this challenge. 😉

@anqi79875 жыл бұрын
DasignArts Actually I could really use some opinions here. So I recently purchased 35mm f1.8 ,however I don’t think this lens perform very well in terms of lens coating ,vignettes, distortion,and defringe. So I returned it. I prefer wider angle than narrow ones ,but I do portraits mainly. (I have 85mm) Do you think it will be a good idea to purchase Sony 24mm f1.4?
@dasignarts5 жыл бұрын
@@anqi7987 uhh nice. The Sony 35 1.8 is an interesting option. I didn't buy it because of the difference in Bokeh when doing a full body portrait. The background seperation at 1.4 is just slightly better with my Sigma but for me that makes the difference. The 24 1.4 is super cool for portraits. Manny Ortiz has a nice Video about it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqbJZGSXhNSgfbM And Julia Trotti did a nice comparison with the 35mm and the 24mm: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2qugqCEmq9kl7c This may help you decide a little. In the End you need to try them yourself. Maybe Rent both lenses and have a shooting. For Sony the 24mm GM is super dope and can be a wonderful all purpose Lense and an Everyday Lens as well, because it's really light weight. I'm gonna get it some day as well. I hope they develop a light 35mm 1.4 GM. ^_^ I think you'd be happy with a 24 1.4 GM. It will have a learning curve, but thats fine. :) Can I see your pictures somewhere? Instagram? Have a great Day! :)

Hi bro Between 28mm and 35mm which one good for travel ?
@dasignarts4 жыл бұрын
Hey Kheng, both focal lengths are really good for travelling. The actual size of the lens makes a big difference. the 28mm f2 is super small and light, good in low light. The 35mm has many different variations. f/1.4, f/1.8, f/2.8. The f/1.4 is the largest..I woudn't take it for travel. The f/1.8 (sony version) is great! Really small and light & produces good images. The 2.8 is ultra small! But has less bokeh and stuff. If you wanna buy a prime lens for travel, the 28 f/2 and the 35 f/1.8 from sony are great. If budget is not a problem, I'd recommend the 24mm 1.4 G-Master. Really expensive, but the images are stellar! Hope this helps. All the best. :)

Are you still using this lens today? For the price, it seems to be quite good. Sure the 24mm GM or even the Zeiss 25mm would be great but I think there’s still something special about the 28mm focal length that even the 24mm GM cannot really match. What do you think?
@dasignarts4 жыл бұрын
Hey David :) Thanks for reching out. Yeah, for the price it's a really nice Lens. And great for travel. I brought it to Thailand last year as my only Lens. :) Today I'm not using it that much. I prefer my Sigma 35 1.4 (although I hate how slow it is..) or my Tamron 17-28, since it fits my needs for VLOGs better and it also goes to 28mm. But whenever I put on the Sony 28mm again, I like it. It still produces wonderful results, espacially for the price and if you find a used one, it's even better! And it's amazingly small and light. But I like the 24mm GM way more. Somehow the 24mm 1.4 feels ..complete (A friend has one and I used it at an Event). With the 28mm there is always something missing for me. Can't really explain. (maybe it's the special look a 1.4 aperture produces) And here is another big BUT. The limitation I feel with the 28mm is a huge advantage. As I want to take great pictures and my gear might not be the best, NOW I HAVE to become a better photographer that is not relying on his gear to take amazing pictures. It forces to grow my creativity and photo skills. It's like putting on extra weight to the clothes you wear, haha. So the benefits are: - way more affordable (compared to 24mm GM, or Zeiss) - light - very small - forces you to become a better photographer, because of the lens limitations. And that's what I like about the Sony 28mm. :) Hope that helps.
@dwmspace4 жыл бұрын
DasignArts thanks a lot for the thoughtful reply and feedback! I agree with everything you said. Makes sense. Got to love the F1.4 aperture lol. My favorite lens so far is the Samyang 35mm f1.4 but for vlogs and general video, it is too big and limiting. Also considered the Tamron 17-28 but find F2.8 a bit too limiting. I need at least that F2.0 I think lol but I’ll reconsider the Tamron. Also the 24mm f1.4 is an amazing lens but just out of my budget. I wish the batis 25mm f2.0 was priced at half the price of the 24mm GM. At $700 that would be an amazing lens. I guess we can’t have it all how we wish lol. Sony needs more affordable wide angle primes with F1.8 apertures I think. Sometimes regret going full frame since APS-C seems to have the bases covered at great price points. But of course can’t beat full frames bokehlicious F1.4. I may just end up with the 28mm lens. Your picture examples looked great! You have a good eye for photography. Thanks again for the feedback.

First and foremost, I have to say, you are a FANTASTIC photographer! It's such a breath of fresh air to find a video like this that just talks about proper photography and what is possible with a lens, and not just shots of a brick wall or a tree in someone's back yard. Please make more videos like this. Instant like and subscribe! Some things I would recommend, since you're just starting out - while I love that you just smashed a ton of amazing photos together in one segment (don't change that, that's super cool), maybe take a few of those and spread them out throughout the video so you can add some more diversity of shots without much effort throughout the video. You could probably have less umms and ahss, but that will come with time as you get more used to talking to the camera (I believe in you!). Really excited to see this channel grow! Have a wonderful weekend and keep shooting amazing photos! Also, where's that instagram link at? Nice shots :) What do you thing about use this glass with a6300? I'm thinking about buying between Sigma 30mm 1.4 but 28 mm is better focal length (42mm apsc ) for me on streets photography. Thanks and Happy New Year :)
@dasignarts5 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Happy new Year! Personally I'd go for the sigma 30mm 1.4 because of the different in amount of bokeh for portraits and such. One could argue that the 28mm gives you a more intimate look and feel of the pictures, because you're forced to get closer to your subject, because it's a little wider than the 30mm. Buuut in the end it's such minimal difference in focal length.. You end up between 42mm and 45mm apsc. You could also consider the size and look of the lenses. The one that looks more "amateur" for you, might be a good option, because people won't notice it compared to a more professional looking lens. Picture Quality will be great with both lenses. Hope some of this helps making your decision! All the best :)
