You’re very welcome! If you ever want that back you can restore to defaults and everything will be back to when you first bought the TV. You will lose all picture settings you’ve made though.

Try to restart. On my 2019 Sony a newly installed app is visible in the apps section afterwards.

Nice tip, yes the suggested Apps shelf is gone, but ... 1) Where do all the Apps go that disappeared along with the shelf? 2) The description of your video also said ‘remove’ Apps, is there a way to do that? 3) It appears that if you turn the TV off the service restarts, is there another step to keep it off through a restart, or did Sony break your hack? (Sony XBR-85X900F - firmware current 7/24/2018)

Hi! Thanks for this. It's working for hiding the feature apps section, but Plex was in this package and now I can't access it. It did not transfer in the Apps row like you. I don't know why Plex, which I installed, is stuck in the Feature section.

JK figured it out! All you have to do is turn off notifications. If you force close first it wont work.

Actually I’m one of those people that doesn’t want to disable the recommendations. Apparently the entire section on top disappeared. It says “no recommendations available at this time” how to enable it back? Could you show me the way of enabling the feeds from the recommendations back? Thnx!

Hi there, so sorry about that. The only way I know how to get it back is to run a factory reset, and then you'll have to update the TV again. You will lose all your settings and you'll have to sign into all your apps again.

Oh no!! Not really sure. The ones I downloaded always ended up in my apps section. All else fails, you can do a factor reset. That will get everything back.

+Forrest Keeney Well, that's why I bought both TVs. I can tell you this right now. The TCL has an awesome input lag of 15ms. I'm not sure what the Sony has. I also like the Roku platform more than the android platform. The Sony, however does handle motion MUCH better.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work with the AF8 / A8F. The Featured Apps completely disappear, and don't show up in the Apps section. The only way I found to make them come back, was to reverse the suggested "trick", and unplug the TV

Techno Dad .. you can actually download and install apps and apk files that are not availble on the tv .. of course some are not compatible, but there are some videos on KZbin showing other tv owners demonstrating how .. check them out , try it, and if possible do a video demonstrating how .. unonice yeah let me tell you all apk app work just download Google chrome and u good , I have x900e and I have mobdro , Terrarium TV , stremio , I was like you trying to download mobdro but my x900e don't let me click install the app so I just download Google chrome and search on Google chrome on my x900e mobdro and it fkg work I was like omg lol and I try stremio and it work too , just download Google chrome , sorry I tried my best to explain English is my second language 😆
