that1cameraguy when I changed the file format to xavc s, it says memory card does not support recording of xavc s. My microSD card is a 32GB san disk extreme pro up to 100MB/s read speed and up to 90MB/s write speed, supports 4K UHD and full HD video recording and playback. What’s wrong?

I'm 50yrs old and have a daughter that is graduating high school in a week and a son on his second enlistment. I purchased this Sony a6000 to be my go to camera for a very long time. I'm tired of iPhone and Android phones. I want to thank you for these settings. I took my daughters photo's Saturday for Prom on the green mode dial. I know nothing about the 1/250, the F5.6, and ISO. I am trying to figure it out. I want to take really awesome pictures of the moon at night and so many other things. what lens do you reccomend for portret on this camera?

@@SteveStevescu007 a 50mm f1.8 OSS lens is nice for portraits. If I were to choose one for portraits, though, it would be somewhere between that 50mm and the 85mm f1.8. Or if you like a general purpose lens, I would suggest either the Zeiss 16-70mm f4 OSS or the Sony G 18-105mm f4 OSS. Those would be good enough for portrait photography.

I believe you can digitally zoom up to 2X before losing any quality, that's what the "ClearImage" zoom setting is for (Camera menu: 2nd tab page 3). If set to ClearImage the A6000 will not let you digitally zoom past 2X...In order to achieve 2.1X-4X digital zoom you must set it to "ON Digital Zoom". This way you can use your optic zoom and then magnify your optics up to 400% more with the digital zoom as well. But anything over 2X will degrade the quality of the picture/film. Hope this helps! Great quick overview btw!!!

Great job, I just bought one. One useful setting that I can't create is shooting through the viewfinder only but photo displayed for a short time on monitor, just like DSLR. Would use it to save battery life.

Thank you very much for all the videos on the Sony A6000 and A6300 cameras. I purchased the A6000 and tried it out for two weeks until I ultimately decided that it was worth it to spend the extra $350 to upgrade to the A6300. During my A6000 trial time I watched a lot of tutorial videos (including yours) which really helped me fast track through the setup process, compare the A600 and A6300, and find the gear I should purchase. Ultimately, I decided on the A6300 because of the 4k video, enhanced phase defection AF points, mic port, magnesium body, and the weather sealing. I felt all those upgrades was really worth the extra $350. However, I did notice that it seems there is more heat across the body of the A6300 than the A6000. As I left my A6300 on for a 30 minute setup process, the body became much warmer than the A6000 during the same process. I'm not sure if the A6300 gets hotter than the A6000 or if the new magnesium body is dissipating the heat to keep the internals cooler. If anyone has an answer to the A6300 body heat, I would appreciate it.

I found an answer to the body heat issue. The camera does warm up because it is made of the magnesium alloy and dissipates heat so it will feel warmer than the A6000. I'm assuming this also helps when shooting video. High Thermal Conductivity - Magnesium disperses heat quickly, making it ideal for electronic enclosures, heat sinks and other items where heat must be dissipated from electronic devices. Magnesium is 33% lighter than aluminum, 60% lighter than titanium, and 75% lighter than steel. It is also 100 times better than plastic for heat dissipation.

The 50mm f1.8 is good for portraits on the cheap geni.us/8OTf. For shooting video, the 18-105 is a good versatile lens, but it depends on what types of videos you're doing geni.us/enwOU

Great tutorial on the menu system. I've had my a6000 for 2 years and still working on it. I have a question about color profiles. I've seen many videos that say they use standard or neutral, but turn all settings down to -3. Do you see any use for that? I mostly shoot family, daughter, and a little street.

I don't like changing settings, aperture, exposure, etc, I have a couple basic questions. Cant I use the lcd screen to view the person I want to take a picture of vs. the viewfinder? I do have the viewfinder on but its very small, Maybe if I take it off, that will allow me to use the lcd screen???? And what is the best everyday shooting mode ..M??? Thank you again.

Very informative video, really helped me a lot with my A6000. I do have a question though. You talked about turning on Clear Image Zoom, which I did, and then going back and activating the Zoom feature. I am using the 16-50 mm kit lens, and Zoom is still greyed out. Is that setting maybe for a lens that does have a power zoom feature, such as a prime lens? Thanks
