Thanks for the video. I have literally taken 115000 shots with my A6000. Everything still works. I recently used the Fuji XT5 with a 40 megapixel "Crop" sensor. Maybe it is myth, but I am told that the Fuji XT5 sensor is actually made by Sony. All I can say is that the clean, low level of noise with the XT5 was light years ahead of my A6000. The A6000 still has better focus than the Fuji XT5. Hopefully, the crop sensor tek in the Fuji will some day be integrated into the A6XXX series. Thoughts?

Great video! Learnt a few new things :) I own the a6100 about 3-4 months and I love it. Great quality, fast autofocus and capable of adding a lot of things. Definitely would like more videos about this camera :)

I won't be upgrading anytime soon, but If I could, the one feature I'd love is the flip screen. I was on a trip, trying to take selfies and just opening the lens as wide as possible, shooting from my arm's lenght and checking, then repeating... Would be so much easier with the flip.

Hi Kyle, In addition of what you've said, just mention that you can shoot a time-lapse with the internal tool of the a6100. You also can do so with the a6000 if you have the play memories app. BTW it is a shame that none of the apps are available for the a6100 :(

I picked the a6000 couple of days back because of a tight budget and I really didn't want to go with canon or Nikon as I was previously using the a5100 and my lens system was of Sony. Do you think I did the right thing considering its 2020? BTW I saw your M50 vs a6000 video and the "a6000 in 2020" video as well before buying. So far I am happy with my decision but I wanted a second opinion and I guess theres no one else I could go for that.

Don't worry, it's still a good camera, my friends use older dslrs, just learn all the tricks and use it to the fullest :) BTW someone said that you shouldn't compare your photos with other photographers but every day you should try to take a photo you'd be proud of

Recently upgraded to a6100 when it was on sale for $548 (body only) at B and H photo. One thing I noticed right away was the start up speed - much snappier than a6000 and auto focus is much better. Flip up screen is a bit fiddly but it does the trick when you need to check framing and focus. Addition of the mic jack is fantastic, but now of course I’m wishing I also had a headphone jack to check the audio!

Slightly. It’s the overall feature set, screen flip, video specs, etc. the color science is slightly better, and the low light noise is slightly better.

Why nobody adresses the main advantage about the 'silent shooting' is that... it doesnt affect ur shutter counts.. which helps to last u camera longer.

I have the a6100 and it's a step up over my old NEX-5n. With a family, I don't have time to vixeo edit or mess around sony picture profiles. It's been awesome the colors are similar to my DJI osmo pocket, so it helps alot in editing both together.

Hi Kyle! Great vid. I'd just like to comment about the build quality issue you mentioned in the video, where you showed that you can shake the lens mounted on the camera. My A6000 does not exhibit that behavior. The lens is solidly mounted and does not move at all when forced. For what it's worth, I bought it only last January, and on the bottom it says that it was manufactured on Oct 2019. Perhaps the build quality issues you mentioned were fixed by Sony, we just don't know when.

Hi Kyle, We are looking for a camera for both video and photography. I'd use the camera to take videos and photos inside of a factory. I'll have a tripod, but when I just record handheld, I want the result not shaky. My choices are M50, A6000, A6100. Great color profile, crystal clear results are kinda what we are after. Its easy to get great color balance on the A6000, I use the Kelvin color balance app built into the White Balance menu (I never use the presets). This allows me to tweak the color balance easily. You get the hang of this pretty quickly. I set white balance to the programmable C1 button for quick access.

Kyle - are you familiar with the a6400? If you compare that to the a6000, when buying new, wouldn't you go for the a6400? Isn't the only reason to go for the a6000 the lower price on the used equipment?

The 6100 has features I need, and I bought it used at $550 plus used amazon credit card points - so I paid $350 for it, and when it arrived it’s basically brand new. Not a scratch on it. I don’t need anything the 6400 offers that the a6100 doesn’t - like video profiles and a tougher body. ✌🏻

Hi! Just want to ask how is the performance of a6100 Out of camera with the kit lens?? If not so great then is it fixable in post? Between a6000/a6100 and m50 im still leaning towards the image quality of sony for a long-run camera.. just thinking about that out of camera image quality.

My preference for image quality from the kit lens is the M50 straight out of camera, no editing. Of course it depends on the lens. The kit lens on either camera is good, I think ppl trash them too much personally. You may have a different preference than me though. Once you get into photography and have a camera that is capable of having other lenses, you may find yourself graduating to other lenses to satisfy higher quality needs. Sometimes that can be a $30 manual lens or a $300 auto focus lens. The one thing the 6100 has that the others don’t, which is incredibly cool, is the auto eye AF for both people and animals. If you love to photograph animals or people the 6100 is far superior.

a6100 is overall better - just depends on your budget. If a6000 is better for the budget, go with the a6000.

U Compare low light photos with 1600 iso in a6100 and 3200 iso in a6000, ofcourse it will have more noise!

Because that’s what the camera chose in aperture priority mode. Same lighting conditions, and the a6000 pushed the ISO up a lot more than the a6100.

I used to yes, up until fairly revently (maybe the last 2-3 videos) I stopped doing that. I used to film with the a6000, and use the H1 zoom mic, and sync in post. Now, I film with the a6100, and use a rode video micro and it puts the audio and video into one file.

Only thing for me would be touch focus(would love that), and I use 6000 for b roll due to no microphone jack, dont have problem with shooting time on 6000...who needs continuous shooting(over 30 minutes) most of my videos are between 5 to 10 minutes...saying that I would buy 6100 at student price:) until then 6000 will do me!

Hmmm. Maybe not. I absolutely love my a6100 though. If you so both video and photo, and you’re using it to side gigs, I’d say get it over the a6000. Mic port, touch to focus, 4k, flip up screen, eye af in continuous focus. However if you’re just shooting photos, I don’t think $350 is justifiable. That’s enough for a great lens to go with an a6000.

@@kyletaggart I'm having trouble because I'm not familiar with lenses. I found a a6100 that's only $230 more, but it only comes with 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6. The a6000 comes with that, but also Sony E 55-210mm F4.5-6.3. Should I go for the 6100 and buy a better zoom lens separately (several hundreds more total)? I'm completely new to cameras. Lenses, make the experience. The saying goes - invest in good glass. I think if you have a chance to get the a6000 with both kit lenses vs the a6100 with one kit lens it’s not that huge of a deal. I’d go with the a6100 and the one kit lens, then the next money spent could be one whatever lens you need. But if you can get an a6000 for $230 cheaper ans use that $230 towards say…the sigma 30mm f1.4, it would be a great start. The kit lenses are a lot easier to start with than a prime/fixed focal length lens like the signs 30mm though. Again, if you’re not doing video, and you don’t need touch screen, and would rather put the $230 towards lenses, go with the a6000 and the combo. If you want newer features, touch screen, better video options, then go a6100 with the kit lens and save for the next lens after you dive in and figure out what’s next.

Had an a6000 for 3 weeks. Great camera but sadly half way through my honeymoon i got the "camera error, turn off and on" notification. Totally dead. Had to send back and don't really want to risk another a6000. Considering the a6100 to see if sony have sorted this problem.

Well, you must have bought a faulty unit, I've been using my since June 2019 and I've taken thousands of photos - I work for a local web portal and I go to concerts, exhibitions, conferences and so on - and I only saw a warning that the camera "doesn't use this accesory" a few times although I mainly use sony 18 - 105 g lens but after a while the camera worked as usual, I wonder if it can be caused by moisture - the camera isn't weather sealed and today for instance I had to take some pictures while it was raining, I changed lenses twice and there was the warning

When it comes to the a6100, I meant that it lacks a neutral image profile and sensor cleaning mechanism. I dared to admit that this film is also a great opportunity to tell about what it lacks against the background of the a6000 because there is very little of it. How would I tell you ..., it may happen that your movie is watched by someone who thinks that the lack of such a brief information about Sony's taking a step back is an indication of a lack of objectivity in discussing a newer model. I've been using mine for almost 2 years now; I've just started thinking of another Sony camera as a backup, a6100 is newer and better but for that price I could get a6000 and VILTROX AF 33 mm F1.4 lens

I would recommend the a6400. You get a better viewfinder, better build quality, some weather sealing and picture profiles for not so much more money. The buffer is slightly deeper too.

​@@rianapienaar2090A sidegrade, really. You will be losing your better built body, better evf, and picture profiles for the a6100's color science and new AF (human + animal eye AF), and tilting screen. So it depends on your priorities... and your wallet

@@ruelle41 the a6300 is better for video maker and the a6100 for vlogging especially Depends on your needs and when you have a a6300 I wouldn't dare touching the a6100 only if you get it cheaper or for KZbin reasons.

@@kyletaggart For what reason though? I always fear that the low build quality will also affect the result so i chose the a6300 over it for the premium body and feeling:) Im also a videographer so the a6300 is better for me.
