⭐️ Buy the Sony a6100: geni.us/K0r7pWy (affiliate) ⭐️ A6100 + 16-50mm Lens: geni.us/nHmPCzU (affiliate) ⭐️ A6100 + 16-50mm + 55-210mm: geni.us/FlD0 (affiliate) ⭐️ Sigma 16mm f/1.4 E Mount: geni.us/0hir (affiliate) What's up everyone?! I hope this review of the Sony A6100 was helpful. Did you like it? I wasn’t sure there was a place for this camera because of the a6400 and a6600, but it’s a great value. The image quality is excellent, I love the no recording limit, and the autofocus is fantastic. As usual, I love the slow motion, 4k is excellent and we do have a flip screen. Was there too much detail? Not enough? What did you like, and also, what did you not like? What would you like to see more of? Would love to know what you think, good or bad. I am grateful in advance 🙏

M6 mii got the 24p firmware update! I was thinking... maybe a more appropriate comparison would be Canon EOS RP. Basically the same price. I think the 24p may have changed the game for me. It was the only thing I hated about the M6.
@TechGearTalk

Hi Mike. Do you mean compare the RP to the a6100? Super excited about the update to the m6mkii.
@MikeMena
@MikeMena 4 жыл бұрын
Tech Gear Talk i think m6ii vs RP. I think potato jet just did m6ii vs a6600. And I think the take away was ‘6600 better, but is it worth the higher price? ...maybe’. I think what is interesting about comparing m6ii vs RP is whether or not the person wants full frame vs crop sensor for practically the same price. I started buying full frame lens cuz someday I want to move to full frame. But now Im wondering if I should have just gotten the RP 🤦🏽‍♂️ I didn’t cause of the reported bad Autofocus in 4K, but damn, I wish I didn’t have to put speed booster glass in front of my ART lens to get full frame look on m6ii🤦🏽‍♂️
@TechGearTalk
@TechGearTalk 4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The RF lenses completely tip the scale if you're going RP based on price. They need more affordable options in that lens mount IMO. Those are good ideas, I'll work on a few of those.

Assalamualikum! I just bought this 2 days ago and all i asked at the camera shop was if there's a difference in quality between this and a6400. They said technically not. Burst mode is another thing which comes in a price with extra add ons like magnesium alloy body and other specs. No recording time limit. Cool Autofocus. For a person who's buying this for KZbin, It's highly recommended. S-log never bothers rest you can do some adjustments with standard picture profile so then you have more room to play with in post processing. Review was Straight on point and liked it. :)

When it first came out, the price was RIDICULOUS!! a6400 with weather-resistance, picture profiles, and so much more was just a $100-150 more.. But now, with the price drops, SO WORTH IT for any beginner!! Also, in terms of color Sagi, the SIGMA 56 is AMAZING on the sony apsc bodies---the colors from that lens is probably the best I've seen on Sony APSC (not to mention, it was recently rated the sharpest lens you can get for the Sony APSC system!! :))

This camera is a killer buy for the money they ask for it. Probably one of the best deals on the market generally. This with the 3 Sigma 1.4 lenses is pretty much all I would ever need. And the whole package is like $1700. For a whole system, brand new, with a good sensor, at 1.4 aperture. As close to perfect as there is.

I was very pleased when this camera came out because it has exactly the features I always wished my a6000 had and none of the features I don't need. It took me a while to find one that I could afford but finally found a good used one (I hope it's actually good since I haven't received it yet.) for right at $500. I could certainly get by with the a6000 but this one will make a lot of things easier. Thanks for the information.

@@anantsaraf for video the autofocus on the m50 is stellar. Super fast and super smooth. The photo quality is good at low ISO but in low light it struggled unless you have a very fast lens! For the price I'm loving it. I do a lot of wide angle shoots so I have the 11-22mm f4? M series lens and the whole setup is $1000 and gets nice results!

I got an A6000 last year around Cyber Monday for right about $500 with the 16-50 and 55-210. Carried it mostly as a backup/smaller camera for my D7100, plus I wanted a cheap entry into mirrorless to see how I liked it. The menu system was probably my biggest complaint right away, had to look up so much to figure out how to use the features. My Nikon is old faithful and from using the D3400 for over a year before getting my 7100, everything is familiar, I can shoot in manual mode and just flip dials and hold buttons and change my settings in seconds. Took me awhile to get to that point with the A6000. Not sure about the other models, but there were also some quirks when first using the camera. There was an all-time auto focus preview that drove me insane because even in the A/S/M modes the camera just continually hunted for focus. Thankfully you can turn it off. The other thing was trying to use a manual lens/adapter, the shutter won't release unless you first turn on the release shutter without lens function. Learning a new system aside, during this recent...isolation...I've decided to start taking it out more often. Luckily my neighborhood is in the foothills and we have wetlands in it so there are some bird sanctuary areas where I've photographed 3 different hawks and a bald eagle, so I've been taking the A6000 out to try for longer shots. I'm honestly shocked with the quality of the 55-210 kit lens. My Nikkor 70-300 AF-P is my favorite lens I have, but the 55-210 is catching up to it. Even out at the end, shooting over 1/200 at F8-9 was tack sharp and I got some pretty impressive photos. Another thing I really like is the auto-ISO function, for those days when the sun is super bright or it's getting dark and you don't have time to fiddle with your settings, the auto-ISO can be a life saver and it's fairly good. Even the intelligent auto setting is decent, when I recently drove the Blueridge Parkway I kept it on the dash mount in intelligent-auto and got some pretty solid video footage. I'll admit I'm kind of clueless on video settings, so looking forward to your settings review for video. Overall though, my experience with the A6000 has me kind of leaning toward going full on SONY in the future, and I'm super tempted to pick up the new 70-350 telephoto. As you touched on here, battery is really one of the few major issues. I can shoot forever and a day with my D7100 and barely get under 1/2 battery, but the A6000 is pretty drained after even 45 minutes to an hour, worse on video. I carry a pocket phone charger I can plug in if I'm hiking to kind of help with this. My only other gripe is that the EVF sometimes doesn't really appear like it's adjusting when you change settings and doesn't always deliver an accurate image of what you are going to get. Thankfully Sony makes a shoe mounted mic that taps directly into the A6000, so that's somewhat helpful, but I do miss the mic jack.

Another great video! Thanks again! This time, you even managed to say " Animal-Eye Auto-Focus" 🐶 One question I have is do they occasionally update the firmware to provide new features and/or changes? The app itself ?
@TechGearTalk
@TechGearTalk 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I was really proud of myself for being able to say "animal eye auto focus" - sometimes I mess up right after that because I'm like "oh my god, I did it" 😂🤣 Yes, they upgrade the firmware with new/improved features, but I have not seen the app upgraded yet.

Agreed! It's the same sensor but obviously less features and I'm okay with it. For those who don't have time to mess around with log files to grade for video, I'm fine with it. I find colors fine and at the end of the game, it's up to the person behind the camera to ultimately produce those epic photos or video you want to shoot. I can't argue either as I was able to pick up the entire kit including two lenses for under $600 bucks.

Hello, Sagi. Thanks for the awesome videos! I’m in the market for my first camera. Because of features and budget, I’m leaning towards the a6100, my question is if this camera is worth it without the E PZ 16-50mm lens? Or do you recommend purchasing it with the lens? I’ll mainly be using the camera to take pictures of my clients after their haircut. Thanks in advance.
@timchristensen2522
@timchristensen2522 2 жыл бұрын
The E PZ 16-50 is an OK lens, and if you're mostly looking to take nice headshots with OK background blur, you could do it with that lens - shooting at the 50mm end at close range, with enough distance between your subject and the background (say, a good couple of metres). If you're primarily interested in taking photos, it's worth looking at the A6000 (which you can still buy at a great discount pre-owned, and will still give you great image quality off the sensor) and putting the money you save in your budget towards a sweet f/1.8 or 2.0 portrait lens (if you're on a budget, look at pre-owned Samyang/Rokinon AF lenses)! The A6000 is a great photography camera - the huge advances with the A6100 were on the videography front really. The AF on the A6100 is better, but only really if you want it for both still and video capture. Happy shopping bud ✌✌

Great video many thanks. I bought the a6100 body before I watched with a manual focus SanYang 12mm f2 for shooting night sky and have been amazed within 5 days of buying this combo. I also bought the Sony 18/105 4 OSS with power zoom and I am over the moon, lastly a clear polythene bag around the body and lens /body connection with an elastic band and a release cable connected works in poor weather for a few shots if you must. Otherwise I use my A77/2 which is great for stills in the weather, but video tends to overheat quickly in all weathers :-)

great work sir, ive been watching your videos for the past two days! i still have a bit dillema tho, hoping you could answer: i am choosing between sony and canon apsc for my first ever owned camera. my question is, considering lens availabitilies, is sony or canon better? i am not planning to spend much on a lot of top gears, so i am mainly looking for midrange good value lenses. and maybe also considering future upgrade into full-frame thanks in advance!
@TechGearTalk
@TechGearTalk 4 жыл бұрын
Hi there and thanks for watching. So you mentioned two things. 1. low budget 2. upgrading to full-frame If you're going to do the first one, go with Canon. If you want to upgrade to full frame later, you can go with Sony. The problem with the second approach is that full frame lenses are super expensive, which sort of crushes the idea of being on a budget. If it were me, I would stick with aps-c and aps-c lenses. Hope that helps.

Hi. Thanks for your videos! I enjoy them so much! I am really inclined to buy the Sony a6400 for all of good characteristics, but the price is something to consider… Now that B&H has the a6100 body only at $598… Do you thinks that is a great deal? Glad they are useful Jaime. If you don't need picture profiles (SLOG2/SLOG3/HLG) and don't mind the slightly better EVF, you can go with the a6100. If you think this might matter in the future, grab the a6400 - you won't regret it. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for an excellent review. First time I have come across your videos. Nice logical , even pace. Have had a a6000 for a number of years. Basically, still happy with it in lateish 2020. However, looking for a small form camera, which will be matched, with among other glass, the terrific value for money Sigma 56 1.4. Largely to be used for family portraits and, now, very mobile grandchildren ( + their equally impatient parents!). Was very,very attracted to the a6400. From what I have generally gathered, assisted by the processor from the A9, have seen stellar IAF with an almost perfect ability to follow moving subjects. The downside is that in Australia, where I live, the 6400 is approximately 30% more expensive than the 6100. Video is of no interest to me. Nailing and keeping focus is. Your video seemed to indicate that the 6100 had a high level of the focussing abilities for which it seems the a6400 is perhaps best known. Whatever camera I purchase will be a long term keeper. The better resolution of the EVF in the 6400 appeals. However, what has brought me to the 6400 is its ,as reviewed, excellent AIF. Should you have time, could you please comment on the capabilities of the AF in 6100 v 6400. I see that there is a comparison video of several of the Sony apsc s & this may in part answer my questions. Thanks for the excellent introduction. ,

Hopefully you found the answer by now. a6100/a6400 have the same AF (and eye af). For video, the a6600 has real-time eye af (which doesn't sound like it matters to you). That 56mm is AWESOME! You're going to love it for portraits.
