@Sajad Toure // Good question! That Sony lens on the test isn’t a full frame lens? Is Canon is a DSLR with the same full frame type of lens?

These are both great cameras but I really wish some of the commenters would stop showing their ignorance by spewing hate for the a6300 overheating. The 80D does not record 4K so it's only 1080p camera. The a6300 does not overheat in 1080p even in very warm conditions so they are very comparable. I have an a6300 and I can easily record 20 minutes of 4K without overheating. Heck the new Fuji XT2 is locked to only 10 minutes of 4K recording to prevent overheating. The a6300 is $200 cheaper than the 80D (which is a less than capable camera) and unless you just hate mirrorless there's no reason to use the "overheating" issue as an excuse to dismiss the a6300 against the 80D.
@khodorckovsky8 жыл бұрын
I believe the 10 minute limit on the Fuji is the battery, capacity not overheating. With an extender pack it can do up to 30 minutes
@Tungtek7 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly I found what I replied you here lol. I really don't see any difference between an "Overheating" message vs a 10 minutes limit of recording, both are for protecting those cameras from committing suicide. @Yevgeny Khodorkovsky: 10 minutes is not the battery capacity I bet, or it even makes the issue worse since it consumes so much of power.

Idiotic comparison really, comparing the temperature of the camera on a feature the other doesnt even offer, the same as comparing the image quality of 4k vs 1080p and comparing the buffer shots taken at 11 fps vs 7fps...

+PeglegMedia Me too :) But Michael did not mention how expensive are sony lenses.G series of lenses are over 2000$. Also flash and triggering system are unknown to me. On Canon side there is a bunch of phenomenal lenses with less price tag on it. Sony make good sensors and even cameras, but it lacks of quality kit lenses.
@dadanardi55418 жыл бұрын
+balsakralj do you mean Gmaster series? actually the Sony lenses' price are on par with the other big two (MSRP not street price). And because the system and lenses are pretty new you will have hard time to find less expensive used one so people perceived them as more expensive. If we wait maybe for 1-2 years the prices will have come down.

Wow! I’m mostly surprise with the deep quality and seriously of those test! Great job! But the other main question before buying a camera is ”Should I go for DSLR or MIRORLESS system?” I was on DSLR Nikon for many years butter I understand the difference with them, I change to Mirorless Sony A6000 and I never, ever regret one click! I’m pretty sure the Mirorless is the future, Nikon and Canon are starting moving that way to! About lenses, not a huge problem anymore with the high quality and variety of camera adapters on the market, the competition is very high in the adapter’s market. Mainly in the Mirorless we see live action or we see directly and live what we will get. Note: Video doesn’t interest me. A photo camera is a photo camera for me.

dude... just to make sure we're on the same topic: camera body 6300 compact 80D not compact - right?
@joelbontuyan6 жыл бұрын
Right. My Sony A7 II is definitely more compact compared to my 80D but size and weight advantage of the Sony gets diminished when you put professional-grade Sony lenses on it. But with the Zeiss 55mm 1.8, it's the camera that I bring with me every day. There's also the finding by some that the Sony G Master lenses are not as sharp as the comparable Canon L lenses. I also have the 80D that benefits from Canon L lenses I have. Whenever I bring that out for general purpose photography, I always pair it with the very sharp Sigma 18-35 Art, though, and not with the Canon 24-70 2.8 L which is heavier and, ironically, more suited focal length-wise to the A7 II. But the A7 II is a miss-match weight-wise to the Canon 24-70 2.8 L. It's a conundrum. I got the Sony A7 II because it's full-frame but I can also get using the 80D and Sigma 18-35 Art what I can get with the Sony with the Canon 24-70 2.8 L. For serious photo sessions I like to bring both. The Sony because it's full-frame and the 80D because it's more rugged and feels more durable, plus, with my Canon 70-200 4L IS and Canon 100mm 2.8 L IS Macro, I can get wonderful reach and macro and tight portrait shots. You can love both systems.

On top the new kit lense (Canon EF-S 18-135mm 3.5-5.6 IS USM) looks like a rather fine deal with the 80D. Not sure how good the sony offer was, I would assume that the expensive AF E 16-70mm 4.0 ZA OSS is a great lense as well, even when it does not seem very appealing to me. And then there was the overheating issue. ;-)

+MichaelTheMentor Great comparison and really pragmatic. hope to see more. Sadly, you only mentioned the metabones once. would have been nice as third option. canon/native glass, sony/native glass and sony/metabones/canon glass. called: the triple-killer-comparison.

This comparison had me on the edge of my seat for the SONY of course!!! I'll be getting the a6000 for my 1st "real" camera because the 6300 is a bit much at this time.

Thanks! Another fantastic video! Any chance you'll be doing any Fuji camera comparisons? I'd love to see how their sensors compare in your tests to any of the other brands.

Thanks for the nice review, would it still be possible for you to also take the temperature in 1080p mode not just 4k mode?. As a side note i do wonder if sony made a planning mistake it seems most of the problems relate to the old cpu (now on a 4 year cycle). The overheating, data-speed, buffer all could use a new cpu and thats been weirdly stable. I wonder if sony planned to use a quicker and more important less watt producing chipset inside on the design brief.

Best video of all time.... Now I am going to buy sony a6300 without any doubt 1 question If I use a gorilla pod as a stabilizer on a6300 with kit lens, will it work?

Great review. As a high school video production teacher, I look to your videos, and the videos of other critics, as I choose which cameras/camcorders to purchase. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for taking the time to produce this video. It was very informative and straight-forward. I will say that you made me think really hard with the test, and it was a very creative touch to let viewers do their own comparisons. I've been leaning toward the Canon 80D camera, but now you've got me baffled again. LOL! However, these things are good to know prior to making a major purchase. Thanks again for sharing your insight on both cameras.

Great video!!! I just got the canon 80d and you did explain in details more about it. The Sony A6300 and a lot of people are buying mirrorless camera. Is probably something will have to invest also down the road. Its a big different from the Canon T3i and T4I I have now.

Excellent comparison. I agree with just about everything you said about the 6300, which I just picked up. It's a great camera, and AF is crazy good.

Fantastic review. Was totally sold on the 80D until I heard your comments on the Sony's Video performance. However, reviews on other channels have pointed out that the Sony's controls are akward when shooting video, the screen only tilts and does not flip out, the screen is restricted by tripod mounts and there is no headphone jack. The ergonomics, screen and sound features of the 80D are very important to me as a one man band shooting video on the fly. From what you say, I nonetheless see the advantages of the Sony when shooting in controlled environments.
