Re: a6700 overheating. The results from different channels are all over the map. My copy did quite well comparatively, but if you're considering purchasing this camera, I'd err on the safe side and go with the 40-50 minute results just to be safe. I talked with Jordan from PetaPixel and we tested almost identically and I got nearly an hour longer than him. Not sure how to explain that. 🤷‍♂ I'll test a retail copy when I can and update you. 👍

With non stop stills/photography in climate of at least 79-85F, do you think that would cause the 6700 to overheat? We pre-ordered this camera but now doubting if it's a bad idea with the overheating that could happen if we use this for photography in locations with warmer climate/travel. The other reviews don't even mention the possibility of it overheating

The fact that a $1400 camera in their lineup has breathing compensation but a $5000 camera doesn’t is inane. They can no longer claim it’s because of the Cinema Line/Alpha Line divide either, since this is a photo-first camera.

@johndc7446

If youre asking mainly about the video dynamic range then theres no question the a6700 is better, considering it has 10bit 4:2:2 compared to a6600 only having 8bit. You can now properly make use of the SLog3 picture profile and get a better dynamic range. When it comes to photos I think they would probably be the same with the a6600 but a6700 would slightly be better because it using a newer and better sensor with 2MP more.

@@ZeroFilmClips Not necessarily. We’re more likely to buy into the Sony ecosystem if we know our cameras will last. And you’re discounting lens sales. I haven’t bought the Sony 20mm G because my a7 SIII doesn’t have breathing comp. If they added breathing comp to all of their more expensive flagship cameras those prosumers would spend more on glass. That would be a business decision that benefits the company. But instead they insist on annoying their consumer-base and making them feel like their cameras have been forgotten.

Not to mention that the X-S20 has much better screen resolution, a joystick, can shoot 30fps stills (20 with unlimited jpegs), fuji colors, better app, and $550 cheaper where I live. @@johansphoto The 120fps 4K on the Sony is lower quality and with a 1.63x crop, it would be interesting to see side by side vs 1080p to see how good the 4K 120fps really is. But I would take 6.2k open gate and extra 2 stops of IBIS any day over 120fps 4K and just upscale my 240fps 1080p. No more explaining to my girlfriend why I refuse to film video in portrait now that I can crop the open gate footage for either landscape or her "instagram stories" 😂 - I'm sure the Sony AF is much better, but hoping Fuji's improvements make it "good enough". It is a close call though, both are great cameras. Fuji do tend to support their cameras much better though, my old X-T3 got the latest XApp where flagship A7S III cameras aren't receiving basic functionality that Sony added to their entry level cameras, shameful!

Practically speaking, A7 IV shoots 4.6K oversampled APS-C video with a faster 13ms readout. As far as APS-C/S35 video shooting is concerned, both A7 IV and A6700 can be the option. It's a matter whether you want Micro 4/3 like 4K/120 or full frame option with some obvious rolling shutter issue.

@thisiseric
@thisiseric 11 ай бұрын
The a7iv is full frame and this is APSC so they will have different capabilities. It takes more processing power to read out a full frame sensor than a smaller APSC sensor. It's comparing apples to oranges.

@@thisiseric Canon R5 is capable with 45 mp full frame. Sony A7 SIII and the FX 30 can do it. These are grapefruits then?
@thisiseric
@thisiseric 11 ай бұрын
@@Hunselmann yes you are still comparing apples and oranges. Some of those have heavy crops and other have only 12mp sensors which are naturally 4k without needing to downsample or or any processing conversion versus a 33mp sensor that needs to do a lot of conversion. If you research the actual cameras, their sensors, the bit rates, the crop factors... Etc it'll be pretty obvious why they are how they are. That's not to say we won't see 4k120 in future full frame cameras but at the moment the only ones that do it are $4-5000. You won't find a single camera that doesn't sacrifice a bunch of quality to give 4k120 under that price point. But I think we will see it in cameras within the next year. Just not yet.

I was excited about this camera until I found out there is only 1 card slot and no 6k. I wanted more megapixels but would have looked past that if it had more features. Sadly this may be a good camera but it's also very disappointing. Why can't Sony make an apsc camera that competes with Fujifilm. If Sony didn't have good auto focus this camera would completely lose to Fujifilm.

Might as well go to FF at this point...The only thing APS-C has been missing are compact quality primes like a 23mm F2 (35mm equivalent) and 18mm F2 (28mm equivalent) that can rival the size and performance of the offerings from Fuji and the Leica CL. People want compact inconspicuous bodies and lenses for everyday carry, street and travel.

Yes with Sony FF is the way to go. Especially with the A7C and the new small lenses least the Samyang Tiny series, negating any advantage the a6XXX-series had vs fullframe on Sony. For Aps-c Fuji is clearly a better choice with a much wider range of bodies and lenses, with the potential for a very small setup like the X-E4 plus 27 f2.8 or one of the f2 lenses, or a high end setup like the XH2 cameras, with high resolution screens and viewfinders, dual cardslots and great ergonomics. For midtier X-S20 holds its own against a6700, at a lower price and with a better lens selection.
