I’m exactly who this camera is for. A guy who already owns an A7R3, but wants something new and updated that’s full frame. Someone that wants something APSC size for family and short trips but refuses to get an A74, and also refuses to get a newer R series camera due to the file size. I felt trapped and now this hits that perfect balance. Sony made it for me. 😀

You should absolutely get it! I have the a7r3 and got this (just a week ago) as an addition instead of the a7iv. It has been great so far!
@evanc89195 ай бұрын
@@joshuanavi378 Totally agree. I ended up buying one last Friday and love it so far. I’ve now made two separate camera bags. A large bag that has the A7R3, Telephotos lenses, and a Mavic 3Pro. Then a small light bag that has A7Cii, wide angle lens, 28-75, and Mini 3Pro. A bag for whatever my mood is that day. 😄

Great video. The best, clearest review I've seen of the A7C II. Any possibility that you could do one on the A7CR? I bought the A7CR over the A7C2 because I already owned the A7IV and thought the 26mp in crop mode would be very useful. I'm not sure yet if that was the best decision though but felt it gave me essentially a full frame and cropped sensor camera in one body.

Thanks for the review. I didn’t really get what I wanted as a pure photographer really because there was zero discussion of that genre … mostly just video till past 20+ mins. Don’t want to be nasty and I got it for free as well but just saying so others know. Atb anywat

Thank you for going into details on the overheating tests. Not a lot of reviewers discuss this, but for some of us, long-form/live-streaming is the primary use case for buying a camera. It would be devastating to commit to purchase a $1,000+ camera only to have it not work for what you need it for (especially those of us in the 2nd hand market where returns are not a thing)

Best video on A7C2 on the KZbin big thumbs up mate 👍 Sold my A7C yesterday and it looks like this is going to be my next purchase, although A7CR does look tempting... but not sure120MB RAW files are to my liking plus 4K 24-30fps on A7C2 has better quality

Really excellent and thorough review. I will likely be buying this camera. The biggest negative issue for me seems to be the not-so-great EVF. I wonder why Sony doesn't offer an add-on upgraded EVF that attaches to the hot shoe? Although making it slightly less compact, it would be removable when size is an issue.

Can you compare this to your A6700? Apples to oranges, I know, but those are the two I'm considering but they're so different! Thanks for this killer review!
@Pfagnan6 ай бұрын
I also was contemplating these 2 cameras and watched a lot of KZbin videos comparing. Full frame is the big advantage for A7Cii as is lack of overheating. It depends what kind of shooter you are too. Several people did overheating tests like Sean did here and the 6700 does overheat especially when shooting for long periods. I do concerts, choirs, stage plays and I have to be able to film for up to 2 hours at a time. So for me it’s a no-brainer. Cheers! 📸

Pretty sure I’m gonna sell my whole Fuji kit for the Sony A7CII, Tamron 28-200mm, and an UWA lens. While my X-S10 has amazing ergonomics and all that fun Fuji stuff, the autofocus just sucks. I did a weekend that had a lot of photos of people and the eye tracking just couldn’t hold it together. I’m just tired of fighting it and jumping between autofocus modes when it basically doesn’t make a difference anyways

thanks for the awesome video. I can connect this camera to a PC using the USB-C port vs the micro HDMI port correct? But, if I have an on-camera-mounted external monitor, I need to use the micro-HDMI port, correct? How fragile is the micro-HDMI port and if it breaks, it's expensive to repair?

No p30 in XAVC HS H.265? WHAT!?!?!??! Tell me this isn't true and he just had a setting wrong. I don't think one SD Card slot is a deal breaker for pro work. You need to pull the files off the camera via WiFi with a portable WiFi hard drive, possibly attached to a smartphone or a laptop with two NVMe running TrueNAS/TrueNAS Scale ZFS or Windows ReFS.

Does A7C II have anti flicker setting ? Something like Canon R8 so that it can automatically sync with artificial lights to remove banding ? This is very helpful with cameras that don't have full mechanical shutter. To be honest that is the biggest flaw of this camera.

It does
@MrRafalEn6 ай бұрын
@@WoMoGuide Is it available for both photo and video ?
@WoMoGuide6 ай бұрын
@@MrRafalEn In photo there‘s an „anti-flicker shoot“ setting which does things automatically. There also is an option to activate „variable shutter“, which gives you more fine-grained control over shutter speeds (as in, you can choose comma values such as 1/121.7). In video, you only get the latter.

Sean...I don't know if you mentioned it but the A7cii is EFCS only vs full mechanical shutter (A7iv). IMO, I do not find this a deal breaker, but does make a difference for some. The end of the day, I do have this camera as a travel/backup & video camera to my main A7RV. Lastly, I personally love the aesthetics - its very Fuji x100vi - ish...

Great commentary. I waited for the A7Cii to come out before considering my next full frame camera. But, given that the ZV-E1 is better for filmmaking, and comes in at the same price, the A7Cii has fallen off of my list of potential candidates for upgrading to. That being said, I am still looking at other brands for full frame cameras. The FX30 I have is so good, that I will likely hold onto it regardless if I get another camera. Unless Blackmagic comes out with a new camera with PDAF, then I might consider selling the FX30. Having used the BMPCC4K, I do sincerely miss their BRAW codec. It has the warmest, most film like look, straight out of camera that I haven't found in any other brand. But, I'm in no rush. I don't necessarily need a 2nd camera at the moment. But, when I do, I will be very critical in making the choice regardless of brand.
