Battery life? I have no issues. I have 2 cameras on me and two spare batteries (one for each camera). And I can easily shoot 10-12h wedding day

Can you please test the anti flickr option in silent mode? I use the A7iii for weddings, but the one thing that I really hate is the silent mode, because it's unusable during ceremonies in most of the churches, because of the banding. Now I can't decide which camera to buy: A74 or A9II (usable silent mode but pricy and less dynamic range) PS: great work!

A7IV has the same banding problem as other A7 cameras :( the only cameras so far that can eliminate that are ones with stacked sensor -> A9, A9II and A1

When you demonstrated the major pain point with left protruding screen at 6:22 that was the point I realized you know what you are talking about. Left protruding screen is only great in one position: portrait orientation, yes for that it is awesome, but for landscape it's terribly cumbersome: the screen is not in the axis of the lens. 19:30 as for video, what is mind blowing that this camera records a full downsampled 4K video full size from a 33M full frame sensor. In my opinion that is mind blowing. Who cares that 50fps crop, when you have the best image quality for only 2799€? Great video.

Hi there! I am an A7R3 user. The autofocus continuous (AF-C) on the A7IV is next level, as well as the menu speed, customization, etc., so I'm using both for different projects. To answer your question, the image quality is good on both of them, but if you need high resolution, the A7riii is better. If you want the best of both worlds go with a7RV

As a wedding photographer, the only thing keeping me from moving away from my A9's is the silent shutter. You have no idea how much couples, guests and videographers love it. Heck I even get referrals because I use silent shutter. The A9's are so underrated... Everybody is into video/vlogging capabilities but don't realize that even the A9 from 2017 can still be a performer.

@@KristiinaThv yup but it has banding and you will see the black bars.. Only 3 cameras can shoot silent without banding. A9, a9ii and a1. Also, try to shoot 20 fps in silent shutter without blackout on the a7iv, you cant.

Great review, thank you. For doing weddings seems like a really good camera without needing to spend another $4K on an A1. Really appreciate the way you did the review from a wedding perspective. Your comments about the video being adequate with a 24GM are perfect for me also….these guys need to get over the 4K crop, it was never meant to be a replacement for the 7S. For photos it’s a big improvement over the 7iii, and in some ways the 7Riii you mentioned. Great review 👍

Yup, shot extensively on 35GM, but mostly photos. For video you can turn on lens correction for focus breathing that works like a charm - fully reduces focus breathing on 35GM

Magic, hope all is well? Question, how many megapixels do we get in apsc mode with the a7iv. In a bit of a mental rut in how I will organise things. I have the R4 and was thinking to use the 24gm on it as if I need the 36mm focal length I will still have 26mp That would allow me to use my 135 on the a7iv The reason why I ask this question is that I hybrid shoot a lot and will probably have my a7iv as my vlog/ youtube cam from time to time. So I'll need that 24 on it. I really want to know if the mp count on the cropped mode will suffice. Thanks Magic

Well, the 24 megapixel A73 is 10 megapixels, A74 goes from 61 to 26 megalixels so I would think 33 megapixels would be about 13 or 14 megapixels🤔 which would be ok unless you want to print really large

Some (mis)information here. Gordon did a test and realised the 10fps is only applicable if you're shooting JPEG. Compressed RAW at 10fps requires CFexpress, which is a bummer. It reduces to 8fps when you are writing to SD cards. Drops to 6fps anything above compressed RAW. So if you're shooting weddings on RAW + RAW, i don't see how you can achieve full 10fps.

Hey Marklin, thanks for that info. I checked Gordon's vid, then I went back to my files to analyse it and I count the frames and for me it does 10 fps on both of the cards - SD and CF-A. And so it does shooting dual slots compressed RAWs to 2 SD cards. Wonder why is it different for Gordon...
