The difference between youtubers who get the camera for free and a person who pays for it is; when the latter reviews it they give detailed information like this which is useful to make the decision while purchasing it. I would like to see your detailed review of this camera.

1:33 I've been seeing the overheating problem even when -- after watching your video -- I turn "USB Power Supply" to "Off". It happens after about 32 minutes of streaming. (It was just a Zoom call, but I'm not sure that matters.) Are there any other settings or factors I might need to be aware of that could affect this? I am brand new to the A7 IV, and to Sonys in general, so maybe there's something that might seem so obvious to you and other experienced users that you don't explicitly mention it. (Like, "Do not try to stream cakes baking in an oven" 😀) ADDED: Ah, I'd missed the text at 2:04 that you mentioned in your reply to @Frank Dávalos. Testing now with that "Auto Power Off" set to "High" instead of to "Standard". ADDED2: Yeah that helped. I left it running and by 1 hour and 5 minutes it was still fine. No sign of overheating.

*Any tips for connecting using a Sony A7IV as a webcam and connecting it to a USB-C port?* I have a 2017 MacBook Pro [13 inch w/touch-bar] and it ONLY has USB-C / Thunderbolt ports. So, you're confirming that we do NOT need a CamLink capture card to do 108060p streaming [e.g. using as a webcam for meetings] we just need a good USB-C to USB-C cable? Are there any specific brands that you would recommend? Cheers!
@navinramaswaran
@navinramaswaran 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there - Correct, you do not need a capture card with the A7iv. You can make a direct USB-C to USB-C connection, and your computer will detect the A7iv as a webcam. The cable that comes with the camera is great, but it's a USB-C to USB-A. I have an Orico USB-C to USB-C cable that works well. Moment sells a high speed cable too. UGreen is another easy to find brand. But if you search for any "high speed USB-C cable" on Amazon they should mostly work well. They just have to be able to transfer data fast so go for USB 3.1 Gen 2 for guaranteed performance. I'll update my description with links to these cables.

I guess the safest anti-overheating option that wouldn't compromise you on power too much is to use an external dummy battery with wall or NP-F. I didn't yet find a third-party AC adapter that the camera wouldn't sneeze at (a regular Chinese AC to FZ-100 power supply produces an “incompatible battery” message), but I'm successful with KingMa dummy plug hooked to SmallRig plastic NP-F plate (using a 7.4V out indeed, as there is a 12V one as well there, so be careful). NP-F9xx type batteries are beefy enough to last for at least 3 or 4 hours of active runtime.

Have you noticed difference in overheating using usb-c cable vs HDMI port? had to totaly reset initialize my camera, to get it to work, it was always greyed out. it kept saying what the problem was, but it was not. now ill start changing settings, and it will quit working. i hate this, about Sony Cameras. Best experience, turn usb power off, use a dummy battery, and leave the screen open, dont dual record unless you want a Crop if you select 1080p 60. Far easier to just use a capture card, in the end, and you can do 4K 60 if you buy the right one. any usb, is going to be 4K 30, none of them do 4K 60. buy the avermedia live gamer 4K Pcie Card or the Thunderbolt version, same device.

@@navinramaswaran Thank you I was just about to get that one today. But it looks so distorted. I hear people using the word distorted I’m not sure if that’s what they mean? The bending and fisheye. Trying to upgrade from my iPhone but im just nervous on which lens to get. I love Sony quality. Thought I would get the 20mm and just crop in a bit or use clear image zoom. But idk. With sigma 16-28 I can really just zoom in with lens to get how close I need it. Idk why your shot looks so wide. I’ve seen video samples where it doesn’t look so wide. I tried live KZbin streaming, HD quality via my android phone using the USB-C to USB2 cable that comes with the camera via the CameraFi app. It didn't allow me to do so. Only allowed 720p. Got a message on the screen saying "Cannot change since connected with high speed USB (USB 2.0). Connect with Super Speed USB 5Gbps (USB3.2) or higher" Should I use a Full HDMI to USB-c cable instead? Will that do the job to stream full HD ?
@navinramaswaran
@navinramaswaran Жыл бұрын
Are you referring to live streaming using your Android phone specifically? If so, I'm not too sure as Android phones are not my area of expertise. However, based on that warning message it sounds like the cable you're using is too slow to carry the bandwidth required for anything over 720p. Hope that helps!
@vashani82
@vashani82 Жыл бұрын
@@navinramaswaran Yes, to live stream vertical, in portrait mode on KZbin, one needs to go live via the app on the phone. I am using the same cable that came in the box with the camera. Is that not meant to carry HD bandwidth? I thought it would. But yes, a faster cable I guess is the best solution.

if you turn the recording on you can go 1080p 60p without crop... i think you made a mistake there. also mine happens to not overheat even with usb power on. most people can overcome overheating by just opening all ports on the camera. also dummy battery but thats obvious.

Have you noticed a video delay in zoom? I might have to create a new output source in OBS to adjust the audio to match the video.
@navinramaswaran
@navinramaswaran 2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm… I have never noticed a delay personally.
@KT-dj4iy
@KT-dj4iy 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. It's only a fraction of a setting, but it's definitely there. And if I switch my Zoom call to my laptop's webcam, the delay disappears. Switch back to the Sony, and it reappears. That said, I haven't checked yet to see if the delay is also seen in the final output as the audio and video being out of sync. That would be a bit sucky.

Can you record directly into a file on the PC with the camera set to record log?
@navinramaswaran
@navinramaswaran 2 жыл бұрын
If you just want to capture from the camera directly to your PC, you could use something like OBS which is a capture software. It will see your A7IV (or any other connected camera) as an input.

Question for you... do you have the temperature setting set to high instead of standard? I've streamed for hours with my A7IV and haven't experienced overheating once. One of the things I was really hoping to find out was how shutter speed affects the stream. Does it matter what its set at (i.e. for 30 fps to set the shutter at 1/60) or in live streaming mode is this handled automatically.
@navinramaswaran
@navinramaswaran 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank - Yes, my temp setting was set to high. I mentioned this via a text slug in the video. Shutter speed does effect your picture so I would set it accordingly. Hope that helps!

@@ms123q5 When you connect the A7iv via USB-C to your computer, it overrides any mode setting you’re in. It goes into “USB stream” mode. So while I typically have my mode dial set to “M”, it shouldn’t technically matter. Are you unable to change any settings?
