Big thumbs up for the backup schedule. Cloud backup is actually an expensive and unreliable option once you cut past the marketing. P.S.: Haven't heard about friends burning people's houses and driving away in their cars yet so all safe there!

I would recommend the Sony SD card with 300MB/s read and 299MB/s write speeds. I got the 128GB version so I never need another SD card. But you can go with whatever size you want. It's 3 times faster than the card you recommend. As for the grip i'm using a Jupio battery grip that looks just like the Sony grip, only much much cheaper and came with a remote control. Chilipower batteries, really cheap and almost as much capacity as the original batteries. And if you really want to save money buy your filters on Aliexpress, they're the same as the filters being sold in stores. I bought some really amazing CP filters for €30 each that would cost me €100-150 in the stores, same brand etc.

Hanging out for the Sigma 35 Art as well!! Just saw on the B&H website that they're supposed to be getting theirs on the 7th, which hopefully that mean we should see them here in NZ shortly. I'm shooting with a 85mm art at the moment and if the 35mm is even close it'll be a great lens.

Purchased the sigma 35mm 1.4 art native Sony version and very happy with it! Still as impressive as I remember on DSLr and better yet, no more back focus issues with mirrorless! Love this lense

I thought the Smallrig L-plate would be a good solution. But, I sent it back because it didn't solve the problem of where to put your little finger and it was too big to fit comfortably in my RRS LR. Then I thought the RRS L-plate would be the solution. It solves the problem of where to put your little finger and fits the RRS clamp. But, I don't really like that you have to remove the battery door and I don't think there is anywhere for the Peak Design attachments. I'm currently using a small RRS universal plate until I find something that works better. I used a battery grip with my A7rii, since the smaller batteries ran out so fast. But, with the A7riii larger batteries, I no longer need a battery grip.

Chris Turner oh strange. Now that I’m used to it I don’t feel like I could live without it. Really like what they did with the spider light holster too with built in Arca Swiss mount. On the downside it does bulk up your camera a decent amount.

@tedmanasa9076 жыл бұрын
@Chris do you mean it has rubber gaskets? I don’t find any on the camera.
@ChrisTurnerPhotographer6 жыл бұрын
I mean it’s fully sealed, Sony say it is, both me and my second shooter have had our A9’s completely soaked many times, like not just rain, splashed from swimming pools, all sorts. Never had an issue. I believe the battery door is the only place that is questionable.

Will the Really Right Things bracket be able to be used with Peak Designs Capture clip?
@ChrisTurnerPhotographer6 жыл бұрын
No I don't believe so
@NoTicket6 жыл бұрын
The Really Right Stuff bracket has an extra tripod plate thread, so you can screw in the Peak Design arca swiss plate on to it. This allows you to use the Peak Design Capture Clip. That's what I do, I then take it off when I don't plan to use it. The hex key that you use for the RRS plate is the same width as the Peak Design plate, so you'll have one with you at all times (it magnetizes to the plate). That said, yesterday I was shooting a friends baby shower and I forgot the PD plate at home and so I couldn't use my capture clip. Kind of annoying.

The off brand Chinese batteries will cause an alarm in camera warning they may damage your ($3K) Sony body. You can ignore it but it will return over and over. I used these Wasabi batteries years ago on my old a7 and had no issues aside from a very short life. Personally I wouldn’t gamble on damaging my a7riii with a $10-20 battery. The Sony battery lasts much longer and you know it won’t cause any issues. However, to each his own.
