How is the camera colors right from the camera if you compared a7sii vs a7siii?

that Slog2 footy is pretty crazy but honestly the standard picture profile is doing a really good job retaining detail and colour. I used the a73 in extremely dark situations before and found the highest usable iso i was comfortable with was 8000
@JakeSloan4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I shot in very low light with the a7iii and it does a great job but above iso 6400-8000 you get really noticeable noise and image quality loss. The a7sIII is just incredible a much higher iso. Thanks for watching.

Hey Jake! Thank you so much for your really informative stuff about the A7siii. The low light capability is mind blowing. One big question I have about the camera before I pull the trigger is whether or not my computer will be able to manage the files, or if I have to factor a new computer into the purchase as well. I know the S-I mode should work smoothly even on slightly older machines (I have a 2015 Macbook Pro 15" with 16GB ram) but the huge file sizes seem too much for my use case. I've heard several people mention that the HS mode at 4k 4:2:0 10 bit (as opposed to 4:2:2) is the holy grail for quality, reasonable file size, and usability even on older computers. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think that a 2015 machine would handle this format? Thanks so much for the videos and the inspiration! -Maya
@JakeSloan4 жыл бұрын
Depends everything you see shot here was shot in 4k 422 10bit in XAVC-s format. I have been very happy with it, you could also shoot in 420 or 8 bit if you needed to so your computer could handle it easier or use proxies (the camera will make proxies for you if you want) I think a 2015 machine will have difficulty handling the new and better quality formats for sure

@@JakeSloan Thank you for the response!
@mirrorlessny4 жыл бұрын
@@SailingMagicCarpet the good news is that you have a lot of codec choices so ultimately you will select one that is easier to edit & looks good for you,,,,, for example I did 10bit vs 8bit test recently & 4k xavc s 10bit doesn't seem to look that much better vs 4k xavc s 8bit = meaning I might as well use 8bit because it is easier to edit
@SailingMagicCarpet4 жыл бұрын
@@mirrorlessny Thanks for the reply! You're probably right that 8 bit would be more than enough for most shooting scenarios I find myself in. When I'm shooting in high dynamic range areas or low light situations where I want lots of control in post, then I can always bump it up to 10 bit.

low light preformance of this camera was pretty disappointing. i was expecting it to be a significant departure from the a7s and even a7sii. to me seems like maybe 2-3% tops 5% better low light performance than my a7s??? considering you can ick up a significantly used a7s for 600 bucks. this is evident in your video as well. many shots the shadows were full of noise and looked absolutely horrible. and all at 12800 iso.
