I went with the Tilta option. One SmallRig cage marred a camera body and didn’t like that another one designed for the Fuji X-T4+vertical grip did not have soft rubber covering the inside-bottom of the cage. The SmallRig cage for A7S3 looks to be similar, but I wanted the record run/stop rotating handle and the 15mm LWS base w/ rods to attach my matte box. It appears that the mount on the Tilta is their Tilta standard mount that attaches to the LWS base... that mount can be removed for you to add the available Manfrotto or Arca-Swiss mounts. The upper corner has a provision for a rod to attach their Nucleus Nano... Arri Rosettes for attaching one their other carry handles to orient camera vertically.

Your lighting looks very cool on your self but you can barely see any details on what you are holing towards the camera and it is also most of the time out of focus. Would be great if you could change these two things ;) and you forgot to mention the 15mm rod mount on the tilta. This was a buying point for me to mount follow focus, etc.

FYI everyone, Tilta HDMI cable clamp limits the size of cable that it accepts. I have an ultralight cable and had to wrap some gaff tape around it a few times before the clamp would lock onto it. Every other cable I tried was too big and would not fit in the clamp at all. Smallrig clamp is much more adjustable and locked on every cable I tried. More importantly, the Tilta USB-C and multi port cable clamp blocks the HDMI cable clamp so you have to remove one of the clamps from the cage in order to unplug the HDMI cable. Really disappointing. These may sound like minor complaints but become headaches in the field and on a shoot. I expect a premium price tag to reflect a premium product that gets all the details right for a camera operator's benefit. That is not the case with this Tilta cage.

which is why no one says that the cage cannot be fully attached (like a small rig can be attached at two points), so the cage moves slightly. it annoys me, and when you work longer, the shifts are getting bigger.

there are some major cool things Tilta has and the Smallrig does not - rod clamp already there (for wireless follow focus) and all sides are already Nato rails, which is awesome ;) I have a question - does Tilta also have the screw on side, that screws in the strap hole to secure it from rotating?

Yo, on the left side (hdmi port side) does the Tilta vertical rail on the half cage or the vertical nato rail on the Tilta full cage extend away from the body as much as the vertical nato rail on the small rig cage? Trying to clear the flippy screen with some handles. Any thoughts on that left side for handles allowing for flippy screen use? Thanks dude.

8Sinn is another company to look out for. Usually the Rolls Royce of cages due to their sexy curves, finish, and the way the cages curve around the right grip and such... If I didn't get the Tilta half cage, I would have gotten the 8Sinn full cage.

I prefer the Tilta half cage because your right hand operation is unobstructed and because it is low-profile enough to be kept on the camera at all time.

Thanks for helping me choose the SmallRig over the Tilta! Well, actually I preordered the SmallRig 3 months ago and received it at the same time as I received my a7S III 2 months ago, but anyway, I give you FULL credit for that! SmallRig rocks, while Tilta sucks! Well, I haven’t actually seen or tried the Tilta, but it sucks. Big time! Well, it probably doesn’t suck, and the Tilta cage is probably even good, but I’m very happy with my SmallRig cage. So it does suck. Kind of. Not SmallRig. Tilta. Well you know what I mean.
