I’m a new Sony A9 user, I use it for wildlife photography & birds in flight, My A9 is paired with Sony’s own 200-600mm lens. I upgraded from a Nikon D500 & Tamron 150-600mm G2 which served me very well but I wanted a mirrorless camera and that also matched the focus ability and frames per second, I am very impressed and happy with my choice with Sony.

Let's hope Sony keeps listening and gives us focus frame color choices and the my menu first display option on the A7 series too! I don't think doing so will discourage any of us from upgrading but it will gives tons of people more respect for Sony working with us on things we actually want (and need)

Nice upgrades, but the A9II would be fabulous with dual CF Express (shed the relic SD format), Touch Screen (similar to Canon or Nikon), and an IBIS similar to Olympus or Panasonic...just my humble opinion.

Looking good. The white focus box is nice because its has a black border. That was one of my ideas. Red might overall be better though. Hopefully animal/human switch can be set to the Fn quick menu.

@@DavidOastler yup, just saw in the official help: "If you want to switch the [Subject Detection] setting more quickly, register the [Subject Detection] setting to the Function menu or assign it to a Custom Key." :) Also, it says real time tracking (switching between object and eye) works with animals, which would be a first.

Focus color change would be great on the a7r3. I brought the damn thing when it was released and here we are with a a7r4 already. Hopefully sony provides the other existing 3rd gent 7 series this update.

I think EVERYONE that owns an older model is thinking this. It will be a real test to see if Sony had the dedication to existing customers or just wants to sell new models. Somehow I think giving us this won't detract one bit from sales but would rather encourage many to stay with the brand.

Btw the "Display from my Menu" will be on the last tab number (e.g. 3/3, 4/4, 5/5 etc) depending how many shortcuts you have created.

@@scb2scb2 No it remembers where you were in last like 1/5 etc but to actually find the "Display from my Menu" is found in the last page and that changes depending how many pages you actually have. Like yours is 3/3 but mine is 5/5 just because I have put more shortcuts in there that's all

I noticed when I paired my new Sony bluetooth remote with the A9 it turned off the BT location linkage. You can only use one of these at a time. You need to re turn back on the location linkage which will turn off the BT remote connection.

Just tried to update The updating sowtwear said: the installation unsuccessful. My screen went black and it is completely irresponsive ever since. Tried leave it without the battery for some time but still nothing, only black screen. Anyone with same problem?

If you do not need the 20 fps , stay with the A7 III till the next A7 comes up.

It all depends if you could use the features of the a9 like 20fps, no rolling shutter in silent mode, no blackout screen, and my favourite is the extra controls and 1/32000 shutter speed. The a7iii is a great camera but the a9 is in another league

Stanislav Guzak the a7riv has eye tracking in video but I don’t have the camera to see at what resolutions the a9 does not have eye at in video at all
