just picked this up for 450 shipped like new, i'm new to video so it seemed perfect to compliment my 24105g... i have the FX3 so I'm up at 12800 often anyway, using ND all the time... so i figure why not rock the f4, maybe by the time i learn my stuff cameras will have 15 stops and create separation digitally. or, hopefully at least these newer lenses will come down in price some! thx for the review!

No way, what a great deal! I still use this lens 3-5 days a week. It really might be the most underrated Song full frame lens. I agree, great complimentary lens to the 24-105, I actually have that next on my list to buy!

@@itsjohnzamora oh wow, it's amazing, incredible value if you can find a decent deal on one, and I think they're around. I paid 675 shipped on ebay, was a V1 but they only changed the country of origin for the v2, it's an identical lens. but on that note, search for Sony lens roadmaps for the year - apparently there's a REAL v2 coming out... which.. man... i usually try to be v frugal, but i might have to sell the v1 then, to upgrade to it, i just love the thing so much... i wonder if it could be a PZ? bc i'm struggling to think of what they could fix, other than updating the OSS/AF to new electronics, maybe making it a lil lighter.. but a 24-105 PZ would be CRAAAAZY fun imo maybe not so practical, but i dunno... i just wanted to make sure you knew that, bc it would prob change my mental calculus re the purchase. the old ones will be quite a steal once the new one gets released anyway, happy to chat anytime, don't give this up, you have a great personality and your reviews are top notch, don't let the lack of views get to you. you know the idea of a meritocracy is false. obv it takes hard work, but luck and timing is so much of it, so much outta control and if you've been able to take care of your family and build what it seems you have then that's exceptional. i know it's easier said than done but don't try to quantify success here w hard metrics. i dunno, don't wanna drone on any more, but don't quit!

I've looked at this lens, but now the new Sigma 16-28 f2/8 is out and I've read really good reviews on that one. It's selling for 879 right now on Amazon. Just wonder if that might not be the better deal?

That's a great deal, and one of the lenses I was very close to getting! For strictly real estate, I think it's clearly the better option. The reason I went with the Zeiss is I really love being able to shoot at 35mm for portraits, detail shots, etc and 28mm just doesn't quite do it for me. Like I said though, for wide angle shots the Sigma wins pretty easily in my opinion

@@itsjohnzamora I will have the Sigma 16-28, Tamron 28-75 G2, and Tamron 70-180, which I will use for event photography. For travel I will probably go small with the Sigma 16-28, Sony 50 f/2.5 g, and Sigma 90mm (it's a nice small travel kit). I do have the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 and Samyang 135 f/1.8 for more portrait work. And sometimes I will use the Sigma 100-400mm for outside events and landscapes. That's about as high as my budget can go. I use an older Sony A7riii.
