11K views and only 80 likes so far? This is the best FX3 tutorial I have seen, yet! I ordered mine on April 28, received it almost 20 days later, am a beginner videographer/photographer, and have been watching videos every day on this camera since early April. There are some good videos out there, but this one is so direct, thorough, and practical. I felt like I bought way too much camera for my skill level, at first, but now I’m stoked to dive in deeper and build up with the FX3. Thanks!

Absolutely fantastic video. This is my first video camera (I know I'm jumping into the deep end) and feel like this was directed to me. Thank you so much. I know I could sit down and read the manual, but I learn sooooo much better when I see something demonstrated. I've been watching this off and on all day, stopping to pick up my camera and mimic on my camera what you just explained. I was overwhelmed when I first took delivery of this camera because I've been Nikon forever and Sony is just so different, but after spending the day with this video I'm feeling much less scared. ;) Oh, and the depth of field demonstration at 32 minutes? That nugget right there was worth the price of admission! ;) Coming from DSLRs where you had to press the depth of field preview and make an educated guess about what would be in focus and what would not be, I'm blown away to learn that on mirrorless cameras what I see on the screen is EXACTLY the depth of field of the final image. Whoa!

Fantastic video sir - You have literally save me hours trying to work all this out myself - what tremendous value! Couple of questions if you have a moment: - Can you please sign post me to the correct point in your video, where I can toggle the Auto facial recognition setting on/off, as I couldn't find it skipping back through, without re-watching the entire video - Do you know to what extent the recommendations here would also apply to the recent Sony FX30, which seems extremely similar... or any notable differences you might recommend - Do you have any other follow-up videos/playlists to this on the FX3/FX30, specifically focused on video, rather than photography - Could you recommend what would be the optimal settings to connect the camera to the Atem Mini Pro (for multiple sources), particularly given the Atem is only 1080p capable currently, as I'm not sure how to best tweak the settings for this primary use case I will be using it for Very impressed with your content as a fellow creator starting out. Thanks for this. It was an amazing Tutorial and I learnt so much before investing in an FX3. Can I ask a really stupid basic question but I can't find a clear answer for it anywhere. The 2 stereo mics you showed. That is to record Audio right? All FX3 videos talk about the XLR and mic jack to record audio but no one has talked about being able to and the quality of the in camera mic. I want to buy this to travel to film my adventures but don't want to have external accessories connected to it. So can you record audio directly into the body and if so is it decent? Just asking as I know the FX6 doesn't record audio and needs external mics. Thanks!
@Jason_Hermann Жыл бұрын
Yes the camera does have a built in mic, but it is not good compared to even a small external mic. This is a professional grade camera, so it's expected to use professional grade audio as well. That does not mean you have to though of course...

Yes you can use the NP-FZ100 battery geni.us/1EoFp0 in any camera that takes one. Pretty much all of the full frame Sony cameras these days use the FZ100 Battery. As far as powering the camera goes I use this affordable after market unit: geni.us/KfnlFY As far as USB PD Power goes, I've been using this charger: geni.us/Y9ByFn and this 10 foot cable so I can move the camera around wherever I want in the studio: geni.us/G3c9s1

This is incredibly helpful. I can’t seem to get the light flicker to go away with indoor lights. With the A7IV the variable flicker setting was on point to fixing that issue and lowering the shutter speed. However, with this one, I have to lower it so much there’s a lag and there is no variable option. I can’t imagine there is no way to make the flicker go away with a camera in this price range. Do you have any suggestions?

@@Jason_Hermann Thanks, that makes a lot more sense now. Especially the part that it says it depends on the light source and doesn’t automatically mean just because it’s on, that it will work. I left my main room and realize the issue is not the camera but the lamp being used. Every other light source in house works fine. No flicker. Anyway, even though kind of embarrassing to not have figured that out before asking you. It’s worth while to put here just in case someone else has same issue. Thanks again!
