So I have been using a6600s I have three of them and I've been using them for 3 years. I recently bought the FX30 but I could return it. The idea was to get the FX3 next and use these instead of the a6600s. But maybe I should just send the FX30 back and get two of these Lumix. I'm all video. And I've never had full frame so I'm really excited about getting it. I don't know if I'll do 6K much though because I'm afraid of using too much space. I'm already having space issues. I think my biggest concern with the Lumix would be the focus. I do a lot of interviews where I'm running the cameras and interviewing the person so I'm not really paying attention to the camera and depends on the cameras focus system. I wonder if you think I should stick with Sony... But a lot of times these interviews are just talking heads so maybe if the Panasonic has like focus zones or something I can set it up to where I don't need to worry about it?
@AlexReinholdsson8 ай бұрын
Hey man! That sounds like a solid setup you have since earlier. As I mentioned in the video, before the s5 ii and s5 ii x the autofocus has been horrendous to be honest but with the mark 2 they implemented phase autofocus and it is so good. Not as sticky as the Sony as I said but for talking heads and simple things it will do the job as good for sure. I have seen that the camera now are down to like 1600 € for some campaigns so check it out. But I am quite certain that you would really love the s5 ii x, it will take a few uses to get used to it for sure but grading it is sooooo much easier!
@VeganLinked8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the response! When you say it grades easy, what codec do you suggest for the smallest file, 24fps with 10-bit 422. I've been shooting h.265 on the Sony cameras, xvac 4k 8bit 420 for several years and it cuts in renders easy for me. But I just started experimenting with the higher bit rates on the FX30 and it definitely is harder to cut for my processor and renders takes a lot longer. Better love having the dynamic range and potential for grading.
@AlexReinholdsson8 ай бұрын
Well with the Sonys, my computer actually have an easier time working with the 422 10-bit xavc-I since it is less compressed and therefore easier to work with than the smaller 422 10-bit long gop files. Same with the s5 ii x, I always shoot the all I because it is less compressed and easier for the computer to handle, makes sense? What program do you use for editing and grading?

Alex, what are your thoughts on matching the Amira and S5II X? I Saw that this film was shoot on the s1H and Mini LF kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJmtfZtmg7WgmdE . Anyways these are the two Cameras and color science I gravitate towards. I'd lov to hear your thoughts on what the amira does better than the S5IIX in your opinion or why you might choose the amira over the s5IIX? thanks!
@AlexReinholdsson7 ай бұрын
That’s a good question. But what the Amira does better than the s5 ii x is pretty much everything 😅 jokes aside.. an arri has beautiful colors and a highlight roll off to die for. But it is very big, heavy and a super 35 sensor. Which is not an issue some times and sometimes it is. The image in the Amira is a lot more organic and the s5 ii x has a pretty sharp image even when sharpness turned down. But they do match pretty easy, especially in resolve when working with color space transforms. So from the “cheaper” cameras to match arri I’d say that the colors of the lumix is good especially if you need a decent autofocus. However, if you can love with manual focus, I would probably go with the new blackmagic which has beautiful colors and a raw capability, what’s your thoughts?
@joshua-hammond7 ай бұрын
@@AlexReinholdsson thanks for the response Alex! I recently used the Amira on a project and fell in love with just about everything but the weight! Im thinking I will end up with an Amira and S1h or s5iix... I know the sh1 has an OLPF that cuts some of the sharpness out. This combo for me may be the best of a Cine-Doc run and gun kit... I do like that both systems can rock and roll with just media, lens and battery. Everything I have seen with blackmagic one has to rig it out and while I am trying to prioritize image with simplicity and reliability. I have had a hacked gh2 since 2013 and use it as a webcam now but its still rocking! I may post back if i get them both. Got a doc this year, just getting pitches and funding sorted. Thanks Man!
