Thanks for watching! Many people expect DSLR results because of the cameras price point. The cost is high because of all the features, not just image quality. You understand this (unlike many), so I think you will enjoy the 20/30V. The digital zoom is limited to stills. Check out some of the video samples I have posted (if you haven't already). This camera is fantastic.

Great video, thanks just bought one. The going price is now $318. I got a "used" open box one for $250. It was brand new and I registered it for warranty. Love it. I really want to use the WiFi feature, and have not figured that out yet, but I did get my laptop to pair with the laptop with "Intel My WiFi Technology" using the protected pin method. This feature is the main reason I wanted, and the great features and quality make it all the sweeter.

Enjoyed the overview. I have a HX20V, and one thing I agree most about is the image stabilisation - surprisingly smooth and effective enough to take handheld clips at 20X that don't make you feel queasy watching them. But I'd caution people fussy about audio quality getting the impression it'll be close to a similar-price camcorder. It's very good for a camera, but lacks the clarity of camcorder audio and exhibits more noise in quiet situations (such as the sort of vlogging in this video).

Thank you for the informative video! I purchased this Camera a Year ago for our Honeymoon and was disappointed with the image results. Sadly it comes from not knowing the features of the camera and the proper settings to use. However I selected this camera specifically for the GPS function which it did not disappoint and was great to tag the photos.

you can customize it to change some options like ISO for example. I have it on my hx9v as well but I never use it.

Many thanks for the video. I have an HX9V. Can you say whether the 30V has in camera video editing (basically clip trimming) and does it have shutter speed priority on stills - two facilities that the 9V does not have. Regards.

but the mind says that I need a compact camera that I can carry around all the time and even 20x zoom is enough but hx30v has got a Sony lens. How does hx30v's lens stand up to hx200v's carl zeiss lens. I am a fan of carl zeiss lenses and this love-affair started with Nokia N82, then N8 and now DSC-TX10. I want my new camera perform better in terms of low light performance, picture quality and zoom. I would appreciate if you could share your expert opinion. Thx

I can't understand how camera connects to a computer for wifi sharing. I have a router that 3 computers and a printer are connected to. Do I connect to the router or to the computer directly? I installed sony's program.

Thanks for an excellent in-depth review. I have a question though, currently I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-TX10 (tough camera) and I am really happy with the picture result. the only problem I face when shooting with this Sony Cybershot DSC-TX10 is that it doesn't have extensive zoom capabilities to shoot birds, I can't afford to get too close or should I say birds wont let me do that. So I was thinking about buying either hx30v or hx200v. I am in favour of hx200v due to the Carl Zeiss lens

Thanks for your nice video. I have same camera (DSC-HX 30V) but unfortunately it only has Japanese Language. I got it from Japan. I actually need English Language on it. Is it possible to Change firmware or any other technique which can make it a english version?

Actually, even my DSLR lens have some dust in them. I read about dust in the lens and the opinion is that its ok. The lens needs to breathe and hence sucks in some dust. They should not be interfering with the pictures. Are you sure its not something else?

I bought this camera 3 weeks ago and its excellent. But I have a problem and if anyone can help me I will apreciate it. The inner lens of the camera (the ones of the zoom) got dust in it. So the pictures are taken with dust and they look horrible. Can any one explain how to clean the inner lens please!!

I agree. I returned my TZ30 (European equivalent of ZS20) because of its poor performance for indoor/lower-light photos and video. From the tests I've done, the Sony has the better sensor, better low-light performance and better noise-reduction processing.

I forgot to mention that photos taken 5 years ago with Nokia N82 are far better than today's Samsung Galaxy S2 and Apple Iphone 4s. I don't wanna offend Galaxy or iPhone fans (I have both of them). But as far as the camera is concerned Nokia is far ahead. Sometimes I call Nokia phones.... A camera with a phone function...LoL
