I also bought this camera just recently. This camera is amazing. It looks like an older model but in the past ten years, no real improvements have been made on the camera sector. This camera is practically state-of-the-art.

I use a Sony Cyber Shot hx90v professionally, as a building expert, where I document my registrations. I have to say, it has never disappointed me. Always unholstered in my trouser pocket. Has taken over 100,000 exposures, been involved everywhere both in the attic and in cramped basements, in rain, snow and frost. And it still works.

I bought a 2nd hand HX90V -- It's a great little camera. I always keep it close, never know when you will need the awesome telephoto lens. These are a good choice for an EDC. Cheers

I love my HX90V. Didn’t need the HX99 with 4K version as I don’t shoot video much. Always keep this in the car. Never know when you’ll see a UFO or “Bigfoot”. 🤷🏻♀️ The case I use is the “Lowepro Tahoe CS 20”.. 12.00 dollars new (unused) on eBay. It’s a perfect size, with a zippered side for (3) spare batteries. Perfect for the Ricoh GR too.

Great video, two days ago i bought a Sony DSC-HX60 in nearly mint condition. For almost the same reasons. But mostly for the in body build in photo effects wich i truly love. What i also love about these camera's is the zoom and the way how you can imitate old vintage camera's. My HX60 is here to stay!

Sounds like you’re on to a good thing. I’ve loved using my ‘50’ since I got it. It obviously has limitations compared to my DSLR but I wonder if that’s because I still need to take time to learn how it works 🤣 But they are great little cameras and really convenient to use too 👍
@Sony-Fanboy Жыл бұрын
@@TudorSmithPhotography thank you, i'm sure that you will learn very fast. These camera's are fast and easy learn. I have the advantage that i'm already familiar with this old Sony menu wich is the same as my old A6000 camera. That camera was also released around the same time in 2014. Since August this my old A6000 has been replaced with the brandnew A6700 as my new main camera. I seriously love it and Sony camera's in general. Good luck wishing you all the best with your HX50!

I bought this exact camera used for £40 about 3 years ago and I find it brilliant for recording my children's Christmas plays. I was surprised how much better the sound of these videos was compared to what the teachers shared with us parents of the same performance. While I normally use a mirrorless camera on most occasions, this little HX50 acts like a telephoto lens which I'm not investing in, but occasionally need.
@zaneclone Жыл бұрын
If that's an HX50 (looks like one) your optical zoom covers 24-720mm (30x24 = 720) equivalent without digital zoom activated. They're a useful "walkabout" in the pocket "all in one" video/still camera- so long as your expectations of a reasonably inexpensive pocket camera are aligned with it's output. I used mine for recording organ recitals ! The audio capture is surprisingly good !
@TudorSmithPhotography Жыл бұрын
It’s early days but I’m keeping my expectations low. The image quality seems ok but it depends on the subject and focal range 👍
@Koji-8888 ай бұрын
Yes you’re right. 24 x 720 optical. Then in settings you can turn on “Sony clear zoom” for a little more. Then also turn on the digital zoom for even more. Yikes. I think better to crop in post. 🤷🏻♀️

Bought a used H60 and I loved it, but the weak spot of this series seems to be the wheel on the back. After a couple of years, it springs wildly between the settings and renders the camera almost unusable. Which is a pity because the image quality is more than decent despite the small 1/2.3" sensor, and the room is amazing.
@TudorSmithPhotography6 ай бұрын
It does seem that the more use these compact cameras get, the more fragile they become. I’ve already notice a few sticking points on my H50!

I got the same camera a couple of months ago myself. I really like it and like yourself I wanted something with a better zoom than my phone. I like it because of its size and it has manual focus which is nice for macro, also the video is pretty good. I like the watercolor setting too, that is cool. It also can take 3D pictures but I haven`t had a chance to get something to view them on yet. i wanted to add a EVF to mine but it cost three times as much as the camera, bummer.

I had one of those little Sony's once... The zoom was great, but unless you have good light, the extreme telephoto was a bit soft in my opinion. I now have the Sony RX100VI, it "only" has a 24-200mm lens, but the camera has a 1 inch sensor. I do prefer it to the HX range, except for that high reach zoom of the HX, however, it is still just as pocketable, and is a great little camera. The only drawback is the Sony RX range is on the expensive side...

This is my first move into compact cameras. If I find I make a lot of use with my 10yr old Cybershot, then I will make some considerations into replacing it with a newer model - and that might not be Sony. We’ll see

eBay. I bought a few HX90v from the Japan shops. Had great luck with them. Super clean like new condition. 350. ish. Japanese shops take close up photos of the cameras from every angle. Especially the lens. They describe the condition like.. Mint - or Excellent ++++ and tell if there’s dust in old lenses.

A common problem with this camera is a loud buzzing sound that comes from the lens portion of the camera. I bought a Sony HX20V back in 2012. Just after a years use the noise started coming from the camera. The cost of getting it repaired match the cost of the camera..The sound is still there...comes and goes..
@TudorSmithPhotography4 ай бұрын
It does whirr when the lens is extended and it’s more noticeable when shooting video!
@sentimentaloldme4 ай бұрын
@@TudorSmithPhotography I'm aware of that but this noise is on another level..It comes on when I switch on the camera. It seems to be a common problem according to Google/KZbin..Sony quoted me 100 euro just to look at the camera and give me a quote. Sometimes when zi shake/ turn the camera upside down it goes away for a period of time. It doesn't seem to effect the image quality but destroys the audio quality when recording video.

@@sentimentaloldme This also happens with my HX20V. The fault is with the lens extender motor and requires a new lens assembly. I just live with the noise and use it as an emergency backup camera. I believe this issue was fixed in the later models.

They seem ok to me as long as you don’t zoom in too much. Then I find there’s a lot of degradation in quality. I hadn’t considered the JPGs were being compressed. I’ll have to investigate.
