Thank you!! 12 years ago I thought my Sony ICF 2010 had failed and just kept it in garage box gathering dust. Saw this video and all it needed was clock battery for main power to work!! Did not know or had forgotten this was a requirement. Working perfectly now.

Thank you so much NorCal715. Yesterday, after maybe a couple of years I decided to dust my loved Sony ICF 2010. I tried to use it but the sound was faint and the display disappeared completely after a few minutes followed by a complete shut down. Today, I decided to get help on what may caused that loss of display. I searched in youtube and your video popped up. I watched the video and it was exactly the same problem with the batteries. They were run out and I replaced them. I didn't know that the whole operation of the unit depended on that batteries. Everything is fine and I am dxing now with this magnificent radio. You are the best.

I thought it was that as soon as you didn’t have the clock. It’s a very common fault on these as it’s very weak. Epoxy putty works very well. Cheers Graham

That is correct, the microprocessor only gets power from the AA batteries

Have you ever tried jb weld to fix a problem like that. The clear works great for me.

Not JB Weld. 2hr and 24hr epoxy, yes I have. I think this repair will be even better than factory.

Do you think it could be feasible to add a buffer battery to a microwave oven for its clock?
@norcal7152 жыл бұрын
Usually not, Most modern clocks use the AC sinewave for time keeping. You could try and get lucky though. You will probably have to supply a 3.3V or 5V backup. Maybe a USB power bank wired in some fashion.
