I'm more an xb guy and used to superchat mbg my criticism of Jim Ryan. That sad, this could be great move for Sony IF SONY AND FROM SOFTWARE agree to revisit Bloodborne IP in form of remaster and a sequel. A Bloodborne sequel exclusive to pc and Playstation could sell 15 to 20mil units given FROM Software prominence particularly on PC. XBOX is not needed. A Bloodborne 2 could be massive console exclusive for ps5 and ps6 and Sony could have secured this without purchasing the entire company. With Sony unable to secure successful exclusive IP from their 3.6b Bungie and 400mil(?) Concord this partnership could and should lead to dormant Bloodborne IP being utilized. With loss of Square Enix exclusives a partnership is a good move imo.

Maybe if Sony didn’t waste 400 million on Concord and other live service pipedreams lately they would have had more capital to make this deal. I suspect the price for a full buyout was just way way too large a risk for them. I play FS titles exclusively on Playstation (I like having them all in one place) and I didn’t think they would want to risk this kind of money on anime and a single gaming studio for Playatation (even if it is From Software). Maybe they have an option to buy later if things go well for them. I was also against this deal though as I want FS to remain autonomous. I was against XBox buying up a bunch of shit as well. It’s just not good and we’ve already lost studios like Arkane Austin and almost lost Tango to it.

Teraflop numbers are meaningless when taken outside the proper context. I notice a lot of people just continue to not understand what Mark Cerny meant when he made that comment. You could do the teraflop calculation and have two chips with the same theoretical performance based on teraflops numbers. But what that ignores is architectural differences that contribute to overall performance. So you can’t compare teraflop numbers of an RDNA 2 and RTX40 GPU. The architectures are too different. You can however compare the architectures of a PS5 and an XSX using teraflop numbers and CU counts because they have the same underlying architecture (RDNA2). If you do the math and include slight variation in clock speed, the PS5 Pro is around 15% faster than a XSX. Look at the results, the PS5 Pro outside of PSSR is not some monumental increase over the XSX.
