Sony Japan barely exists. They don't even have their headquarters in Japan anymore since around 2016 and closed all their japanese studios. Sony is a japanese company in name only at this point.

That's not how it works. Sony USA is in charge of their movie and game division. Fromsoft games will be most likely exclusives going forward.

Long version: They are N1 shareholder, which means their opinion counts more than before. *JP supremacy preserved* Short version: Kadokawa needed more money, and Sony was the lesser evil option. Game side is mostly fine, besides Bloodborne 2 being exclusive 100% Manga/Anime side is very bad, because Sony owns indirectly a Monopoly now

I'm not worried about the buyout really. Miyazaki and his team have been working together for more than a decade, and I assume they're more loyal to him than they are some faceless corporate overlord. I think if they were being mistreated, Miyazaki could walk out and make his own studio, and everyone else in the team would walk out with him.

Obviously the exclusive risk and Sony meddling is a concern. As an anime and manga fan this is a huge win. I consume probably as much Anime as I do Fromsoftware games. It is the majority of my free time. I do hope Sony pushes some anime being made in the Souls universe or even an Armored core anime. That would be heaven. I am hoping it is more of an alliance as Kadokawa represents it as.

It is a relief somewhat that Sony has not outright consumed Kadokawa like some dragon. The thing that worried me as well throughout this whole venture has been the large amount of people talking about Bloodborne 2, but we have to acknowledge a couple of things here. One is that Miyazaki has mentioned that he is not opposed to a PC port of Bloodborne as he admires it as being a relic of the past and his second favorite. The second is that Sony barely acknowledges Bloodborne's existence as it was not as lucrative at 7.46 million copies sold over the lifetime of the PS4. Elden Ring by comparison has sold 28.6 million so far and its been almost three years since its release. Neither party have sat at the table with interest to situate a port/remaster/sequel. FromSoftware continues to experiment, try new things, and we know now that a multitude of projects have been in the works for them. Bloodborne is my all time favorite game. It's #1, but just thinking for a split second that FromSoftware got their hands twisted into this and pressed by a publishing giant for the pure sake of squeezing profit, I would be dearly, DEARLY worried for what would be in store for them under a Sony rule.

I mean, my thought was that with Elden Ring Nightreign, Fromsoftware inadvertebly aliviated any possible Sony request of live service game or that kind of chasing trends. Because it would be foolish to make another simmilar game and in this way Fromsoftware is kinda doing that on their own terms. Possible Playstation exclusives worry me, i dont own a Playstation and i dont plan to even for one or two FromSoftware games, because a 1000€ with included price of that supposed game or two i would play is definitively not a good proposition, its simply too expensive to pay that kind of money for two games.

I am hopeful that with this deal, Sony could allow Fromsoft to explore more of the Bloodborne Universe or even have the game remastered. I am scared that Sony may also get greedy and start asking the Fromsoft pushes out a higher quantity of games made at the expense of quality.

I do think some people worried way too much about this. Sony have made some bad decisions over the years, but I don't think they're about to slaughter the goose that lays golden eggs. FromSoft are such a proven and consistent company that Sony would be mad not to just let them get on with whatever they're doing.
