They tried to pull this crap with Hogwarts Legacy. Locking an entire side quest to the Playstation version. Know what happened? Modders slipped it into the PC version, then months later, it was added in officially via an update. On the topic of console exclusive content, there’s no better example of this done right than Soul Calibur 2. Each version had a different guest character. In other words, we actually had a choice rather than having one platform sabotage the others.

@@mrfoxly6833 uhh the video has some of it yeah but the whole video was mainly complaining about the sonic x shadow generations exclusive content, but i don't think it's more of sony putting more effort into stuff like that i think it's more so, developers just haven't made games that are exclusive too just the PS5 and that's something i don't think sony can really force the dev teams too do, plus most of the bigger game publishers are now owned by Microsoft which i think is just stupid really, i bet you we would have a Spyro and Crash game that's only on PS if Sony had access too them, but we are getting astro bot thats gonna only be on PS5, and i don't like counting the crappy PC ports of PS5 games, that feels like it was added because of high demand, Ratchet and clank rift apart on PC is an example of why it should have stayed on the PS5 you can't get the full intended experience without buying an SSD that can take use of the instant portal mechanic which is the main focus of said game, but instead on PC you get a crappy loading effect where they sit inside the portal frame for an extended amount of time, astro bot and rift apart are really good game concepts which other dev's haven't realized yet that the PS5 can do, and if they have it's now too late sorta, SEGA has a chance to add their own rift apart moments in the PS5 (maybe xbox) version of sonic x shadow generations, i highly doubut it will load quick on the switch, it's that multi platform releases is what people mainly aim for now days, something Sony can't force unless the team behind it want too take full advantage and make a solid gameplay loop that relies on the PS5 hardware, lemme grab another example, a minor feature being the controller's hepatic feedback, Hogwarts legacy takes use of this with a few extra features that no other platform has, not even the PS4 has this, the light changes depending on what house you are and what spell you use, Spyro reignited is another example but this works on both PS4 and PS5 the controller color changes depending on the color of sparx, if someone wanted to make a game that uses the hepatic feedback functions they then can't port the mechanic's into the other consoles since they don't have that feature in the controller, and if they want the game too sell more and be more accessible they now have too scrap that concept, not fully just can't have cool features like a half pull for a different effect like how rift apart guns does it, which is what makes rift apart's guns unique is because they take full use of the hepatic, almost every gun in rift apart had 2 functions when ever it was half pulled and fully pulled, something you can't really do on PC for keyboard or mouse, plus this sonic exclusive "cutscenes" is just more content in my eyes and will be reuploaded too youtube anyway, plus its not like we're paying for this bonus stuff it just comes as it is

This is nothing new from Sony. Back in the PS2 days in around 2002 I was working on a multiplatform four player fighting game inspired by Smash Brothers and Powerstone based on the Dragon Ball Z license. The plan was to release it for PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube. Almost immediately Sony started demanding that the PS2 version have exclusive characters and levels that weren't on the Xbox or Gamecube version. To make things worse, and what ultimately killed the game, the PS2 did not come with 4 controller ports by default. You needed a Multitap device to play with 4 players. Sony said that not enough people were buying the Multitap device, so we would have to make the game 2-players. Not only that, we were not allowed to put 4 player gameplay in the Xbox or Gamecube version of the game. Eventually the game was cancelled because Sony kept demanding more and more and it just made more sense for Atari to release Dragon Ball Z: Budokai and cancel the game we'd been working on. So not only does Sony have a history of demanding exclusive content for games, they also have a history of demanding the other versions of the game on other systems be made worse on other systems. And they could do this because at the time the Playstation 2 was the best selling console (and it still is.)

Yeah, as a Sonic fan who plays on PS, this exclusive is stupid. Apparently, it's going to be a timed exclusive, but... why do this at all? It isn't gameplay related content or even an exclusive character skin, like the _Persona 5_ skin for the PlayStation version of _Sonic Forces._ It's extended scenes for an animated prologue. The previous animated Sonic prologues have been readily available on KZbin via the official Sonic channel... for FREE.

I have to thank you, Alex and Frit for helping ponder the thought of getting a gaming PC and channels like ToastyBros, Scattervolt, and Tech Source convinced me to get one. To be fair it’s a timed exclusive, but that doesn’t make it any better, and it was clarified by the Sonic social media community manager that the exclusive content is just behind the scenes and deleted scenes stuff, and maybe an extended cut of the animation but that wasn’t exactly clear. Either way this is funny for all the wrong reasons, I wonder how much money Sony shelled out for this, I’m glad Sonic Team/ SEGA are finally listening and putting these animations into the game, since they haven’t been doing that for the previous games, but still this is just hilarious.

Lol I am waiting for the moment when PC gamers find a mod to bypass the exclusivity. This happened in Control also, the fix was so simple it didn't even require adding any files to the game.

Sony is massively dropping the ball when it comes to the Playstation side of things. Us pc guys, girls and everything in between will be eating good since Sony has alot of ports lined up. I honestly dont know how much longer the share holders are gonna put up with this. I'm calling it now somethings gonna give in the next year

I so fed up with the American Arms always goo goo gaga about cutscenes movies and whatnot, Treating their game consoles like Blu-ray DVD viewer that was meant for movies with good graphics that can kill GPU and CPU which makes me sound it's pointless to get a PlayStation in this time and age.

I know this is going to sound fanboyish, but I do feel like Microsoft is at least trying to give us a variety of experiences with its first party lineup, it's just people have been conditioned to like 1 type of game. I don't have an Xbox, but I play their stuff on PC, and the last couple years we've gotten Hi-Fi Rush, Forza, Hellblade 2, Pentiment, Starfield, Grounded, etc. and about to get Indiana Jones, Avowed and Towerborne. These are not cinematic 3rd person narrative games like Horizon, TLOU GoW, Ghosts of Tsushima or Spider-Man though, so they're much less popular.

I agree we should get this platform war thing out of the way. With current tech there is no reason to not have a Steam Deck console like front end for Windows and machine learning can do settings optimization for you. That way we can finally get rid of closed platforms like consoles and only have one platform that does it all, also known as the PC.

While I agree with you and wish that everyone could have gotten the cutscenes, having additional levels as PlayStation exclusive would upset me a lot more than this. I don’t own a PS5 and definitely don’t want my Xbox version to lack any levels.

I own a PC, Steamdeck and all 3 major consoles. I have no loyalty to any one vs the other. While you may not like Sonys tactics, they do work. Sony really took advantage of exclusive content at the end of the PS3 all the way till today and It’s why they are dominating Xbox. They don’t have to push out exclusive content if they can buy it. It may not be the best strategy for gamers in general, but it is an effective strategy for differentiating their consoles. It’s also what keeps Nintendo continuously successful. You can only get Nintendo games on Nintendo consoles. I’ll agree cutscenes are a poor choice but some would question exclusive side quests or characters. They’ve done all of that based on what the developers are willing to agree too. In the end, all of these deals just push the narrative that “the best version of a game is normally on PlayStation”.

I’ve been with Xbox from day one. The Xbox 360 was fantastic. Then I went to the PS4 that was okay for nine years. I spent £10,000 on digital games. For what it was, it was pretty good. I returned your Xbox with the Xbox One S. that was brilliant I’m on the series X & S. so there you go Sony I found and returned to my platform. It’s much better than PlayStation. Xbox is the way forward. And PC for me.

OG version runs best on PC and the 360 version runs at 4k-1440p 60fps on SeriesXS.
