I appreciate the context in this video showing that yes, the psvr2 is a supported and powerful headset very capable of cornering the market on high end vr. The ease of use is something many people forget about. Setting up a pcvr headset similar specs to the psvr2 is SUCH A HASSLE and never makes me feel like " Yeah I want to play more" PSVR2 is a massive step up for people with mid range pcs that cant run even cheap vr headsets at good quality.

I own several PCVR heads, Quest 3, Quest 2, and PSVR2. And I absolutely agree that setting up and using the PSVR2 is absolutely the best experience of all of them by far in terms of being well polished and trouble free. I have PCVR headsets that are considerably more powerful than the PSVR2, but the user experience of getting them setup and working is far less polished and more technically savvy enthusiast oriented. Even the Quest 3 is pretty clunky and less polished by comparison.

Yeah the hate is definitely real. I don't think Sony has abandoned PSVR 2, I just wish there was some indication they were still supporting it with first-party games. Or at least they should talk publicly about the financial support they're putting into third-party VR games. I don't really care about hand-tracking, but the fact that it exists (along with the new reprojection type offered by GT7 on PS5 Pro) is an indication that they still have some in-house resources dedicated to its improvement, and that's a good thing.

I bought the PSVR2 during the sale and tried GT7 and I now have an stunning theme park attraction in my home. It's amazing and I love it. I still play pancake games but I love how special VR is and it's a great addition to my gaming hobby.

VR is the next dimension of Pro gaming. Once flat screen graphics will peak, the extra difference will be audio and video immersion. The other trend is and will be portability/streaming, especially for more casual gaming.

In about 10 years we should see this with the greater popularization of eye tracking to use foveated rendering in games, in addition to options like FSR, frame generator and the like supporting VR on all platforms.

Nailed it. PSVR2 is awesome. The best change I made was switching from PC gaming to console. For me it's ease of use and separation. My studio is now for production, work and study only. And being time-poor I know I can press a button and play a game in less than a minute.

@Frowggy PC was a distraction. When I boot up, I think, "I'll just check my inbox," "I'll quickly do this," etc. Plus, it's not in the most leisurely room. So, instead of my usual upgrade, I bought a Chromebook for study, a NUC for production and work, and a PS5 (with PSVR2) for gaming. You gotta keep 'em separated!

Im pretty sure a lot of Metas marketing budgets go to paying media sources to talk bad about the PSVR2. I hadn't read good things about it, but the personal reviews convinced me to try it even though I had a heavy expectation I would return it. Ive played my PSVR2 more than I ever played my PS5.

To add some extra content to this video I read an article that supposedly Apple is talking to sony about integrating sony’s sense controllers to the apple vision pro. What that means (if it’s true) is that finally Sony will sell sense controllers separately! That’s been my biggest complaint against PSVR2! So hope that’s something that comes to fruition!

They did a massive sale and announced two first-party titles in development. They just released a commercial for the hardware. All of this before this new hand-tracking announcement. The reason mainstream media are saying this is that Sony isn't making any first party VR games by my knowledge. They haven't shown anything significant since Horizon and GT7 after launch, by my knowledge. People at Playstation still working to improve the PSVR2 is cool but that doesn't show anywhere near the (financial) commitment, that making full scale games does. I think VR is reallyu cool and I actually just bought a PSVR2 in the recent sale but I honestly believe it's kind of dead as far as Sony's support goes. Calling this misinformation, as if intentional, is absolutely crazy in my opinion. It's just logic.

Honestly, I just want people to get any VR setup they can. it is worth it. I am a PC VR player I have a Quest 3. But I never cared if someone chose another path. Sony has high-quality control for their games. You can use it to get in shape and learn things as well as games.

The oled screen is the best thing about psvr2. Controller haptics are nice also. But the rest isn't even utilized because Sony doesn't lead the way & make software that shows off eye tracking, foviated rendering, or head rumble features. Very few game devs do as their largest selling markets are elsewhere & headsets dont have those features. Sony is the biggest enemy of its own psvr2 hardware & its crazy.

Interesting take on the implications of developing hand tracking for psvr2. I mean, it would need to be better hand tracking than quest3's (which is frustrating at best). It does mean that Sony has more feature parity with headsets like vision pro. Which is maybe why they are also working with apple to get sense controllers working with vision pro. Maybe we might see a refresh of psvr2 (psvr2.5?) with colour pass through next?

I agree with this video. I own both a PSVR2 and a Quest 3. I still play far more games on the PSVR2 than the Quest. The Quest 3 is a great headset and having no cable is nice, but the colors, eye tracking, wider field of vision, and haptic feedback on the PSVR2 make games more immersive. The headset is lighter so it is better for workout games like Les Mills BODYCOMBAT. I got the PS5 Pro on release day and am blown away with how good No Man's Sky and Gran Turismo 7 now look with the Pro enhancements. When a new game comes out on both platforms, I tend to buy the PSVR2 one. (OK. I will admit that I am a Sony fan and own two Sony Bravia TV's.) The Quest 3 is cool for VR Chat, map programs and watching KZbin or KZbin TV in bed or when I travel. For anyone who owns a PS5 and wants to get into VR, the PSVR2 is the better choice. The recent sale price of $350 was a steal.

There seems to be too many Meta ‘ambassadors’ out there. They say they love all VR, but they always favour meta or will say how incredibly close a game on quest is versus PSVR2. Don’t get me wrong, for a mobile device Quest3 is remarkable and great for multimedia purposes. Sony have ignored this aspect in favour of gaming though and just check out their top games like GT7, RE4, RE8, NMS, COTM etc. There is no comparison. Both can now be used for PCVR so that is moot.

Quest 3 has had hand tracking for ages. I like my PSVR2 on Playstation but it;'s not very good on PC. I prefer my Quest 3 on PC. But they are both great headsets. Quest 3 has way more functionality for me though. I can take it over my sisters and just play Batman and behemoth or Metro with my nephew with no PC or console. And If I want better graphics. (slightly better ) I go home and plug it in my PC. The PSVR2 is just good on the PS5 slim I just bought. It's not the best headset on PC mate. Best headset on Playstation.

Yea sorry but it's been nearly 2 years and all sony have done is showcase a hand tracking feature. How does that prove anything? They still haven't made any games for it, if it wasn't for 3rd party devs making games for it, it would already be dead. Sony have done nothing with it, they have shown more intrest in other platforms than they have their own by making the pc adapter and now working on controllers for the apple Pro. All sony wana do is push hardware now days. while I still agree the headset is great and has some great 3rd party games, sony need to do more for their own player base, we want separate controllers, we've only been asking since the thing launched, and we want sony 1st party IPs. What's the point in buying the psvr2 over any other headset when all the games are avaliable everywhere else plus exclusives that we cant get on psvr2? When people say psvr2 has no games, what they actually mean is psvr2 has no PlayStation games. They are all available on quest n pc besides horizon gt7 and reaident evil. They need more exclusive PlayStation studios games that PlayStation fans actually want to play. The average age of the majority of PlayStation owners are not kids anymore, it's people I their 30s n 40s, n they don't wana dance or play hide n seek in amoung us vr. I think we should be demanding better, not celebrating and praising sony for flicking us a crumb from the banquet table.

Totally agree with everything you've said. KZbin's always making propaganda videos whenever they see big sales numbers. Not trying to figure out why, but to justify his own obsession with psvr2. Its the holiday season, and scalpers are buying them too. Look at what happened to the sales of the ps5 pro, higher than expected for most gamers. Again, its scalpers that Sony loves to show the number of sales on. I don't see why the psvr2 just gets a permanent price cut, they aren't selling for higher priced. Gets me wondering how Sony is recouping thee loses on its major flops, it isn't anything to do with psvr2, for sure.

I don't think it's that most people hate on psvr2. Is just a bad bandwagoning, and lack of critical thinking . Environmental politics and silicone valley modern companies has tainted peoples perception of what it means to run a company. So the most fundamental ideas of companies need to make money, and not telling your strategies to the public is suddenly no longer something people take for consideration. I got PSVR2 in February of 2024, and I have played every single night since. I even got the PC adapter to use with my moderately powerful gaming PC... but honestly its kind of a pain in the ass to get setup. Id rather just turn on the PS5 and put the headset on. Way easier. (tho half life alyx is so good)

To be honest VR headset biggest flaw was the price originally but with it being 350 now it’s actually justifiable. I got a PS five if you want to do 4K gaming even if someone comes and say that’s not true 4K who cares what they say it’s amazing experience for that price Plus it’s not like Sony band. We’re still getting mad games from the VR side now we still need backward compatibility with PS1 VR, but besides that it’s pretty good also do any VR games on the PC platform even support the PSV or two features when that whole controversy happened Where the PC version didn’t support any of that Also, they expect Sony to have like 20 different games in the development for the PS VR one VR still a niece genre hasn’t meta-quest in total so like what 10 million or 20 that’s like the most successful like that’s like the PS2 for VR plus Sony got to pay attention to their consoles first

As a PSVR2 owner, I barely touch mine. The controllers are big and awkward and lose tracking and have terrible charging, the room mapping is crap. Fresnel lenses are awful and a big step down from PSVR1. The headset is bulky. The cable is - a cable. The cams are awful. It has some great features like eye tracking, but its shortcomings overshadow its benefits. PLUS - why oh why did Sony not have VR support for Astrobot??? They barely support this thing and 3rd party devs are keeping it afloat.

Could be its a Christmas gift for others that increased the sales numbers. I don't think people are jumping at the chance of playing with it. Or scalpers, holidays sales. Im glad to see Sony innovating and adding features. That being said, the weird anti-media take was unhinged. Game journalists have been reporting on the state of PSVR mostly accurately. There has been poor sign, and there has been a dirth of games and experiences and that's been an issue. It just seems to me people are upset that a product they like (as do I) is getting bad press.

I love my psvr2 but it has some big drawbacks compared to pc and they are Mura 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 Much less games then pc vr Other than that, I think it’s incredible but it really needs more triple A games and no, they don’t need to be 60 hour open world games. 6-10 hours of triple A gaming is what we need and is highly possible and with this psvr2 would blow up and if they started adding vr modes to flat games , like they did with gt7 resident evil village etc that would be the icing on the cake. I really love games like synapse,call of the mountain and my new absolute gem Max Mustard but I really want more of the likes like resident evil, games like but NOT metro Awakening etc Vr gaming with all the negatives aside, really is so incredibly more FUN then flat gaming. If I have the choice of loading up something like horizon zero Dawn, god of war etc or some indie game even like Synapse, there simply isn’t any choice to be made. At least for me it don’t matter what game you put in front of me. Gaming is boring and stale and so are the games. Unless we start getting new games with some originality, then flat gaming with always be a shell of its former self to me and others alike.

Dude this whole video sounds like you are crying about the treatment of Sony by the media, when we all know the media is also accused of having a bias for the PS5. You yourself can't point to why the media hates it, it is probably because it isn't true. The PSVR2 has not done well, and a black Friday boost is not story worthy unless it sustains that trend. Also, the PSVR 2 IS lacking in support, especially compared to the PSVR1 that had must have VR exclusives that are still stuck on that platform. PSvr2 arguably has just 1 and it came out at release. Sony needs more high profile exclusives releases so people take it seriously. Why buy a psvr2 when it gets less games than a quest 3, and most 'new' psvr2 games are ports of pcvr and quest games.

The showpiece titles visually blow away anything possible of the standalone Quest. Something like the upcoming port of the PCVR game "Subside", the game I'm most looking forward to showing off to VR newbies, just isn't possible on standalone. Quest 3 is awesome too. Unfortunately it's being held back by the Quest 2. 99% of the games in the Quest store are native Quest/Quest 2 games still. With the exception of a few mixed-reality titles. Neither platform is perfect. We need healthy competition in the VR space in order for it to grow. This isn't a war, so choose whichever you like. There's always going to be a trade-off unless you have a gaming PC to tether it to.

Quest sucks . only good thing about it is mixed reality which is boring . The quality of the vr2 performs better than the quest big time .
