I note that not one remote in more recent years has something called a "stop" button to stop a video from playing on the PVR. Also, not having Canadian-centric remotes with Crave, CBC Gem, CTV, Global, etc is not proper. I have seen one remote that came with a tv, Hisense, which had three Canadian buttons.

One thing I miss from my old LG set is the 'long press' functions that can be assigned to the number buttons. For example, long press button 1 automatically switched the set to HDMI 1 input, 4 started up the internal tuner, 7 started up the Rakuten app and so on. Is there any way that this can be simulated on the Sony remote - its easier than using the input select button. I've set the TV button to do this for my Sky HDMI input, but that only covers one of the many possible inputs that I use.

You can only use these buttons within certain menus or within certain apps. The Internet connection will be established automatically, and settings of the TV is not required. Note: • Depending on the router, it may not be connected to the internet automatically. Can you help me with remote control help. I have a new Xbr55a8h I also have a DIRECTV box. I did get the remote programmed to work with the box, however the most frustrating part of the Sony TV remote is that there is not a single exit button like my DIRECTV remote. So if I’m scrolling through the guide on my screen it’s not a simple one push button to get out of the guide and go back to whatever channel I was watching. I have to hit the back button and sometimes eight times just to get out of the guide and get back to the channel I was watching pit is there a simple way to make this remote work more conveniently with my DIRECTV. It drives me bonkers. For example if I go to my guide right now to see what is on tonight at 9 PM, well right now it’s 9 AM. So I need to scroll through the entire day to get to 9 PM tonight. But then when I want to go back to live TV, I have to hit the back button as many times as I scrolled forward to get to 9 PM just to get back to live TV. Am I making sense? And is there a way around this terrible glitch in remote

Im having the same problem... you cant exit out of the guide without selecting a show on your guide.. thats the only way i found... so say you just want to see whats on a diffrent channel on your direct tv guide once you scroll and find what your looking for there is no exit feature on this remote that will put you at full screen to what you were watching... you have to scroll back thrugh the guide and find your program click on it just to make the guide go away.... please help this is no bueno there has got to be something we are missing or maybe something you guys missed??

@@SonySupportUSA hi, I updated all drivers on both devices and still I cannot control the volume from the soundbar with the remote from the TV. Is this even supposed to work? When I go to the tv settings then choose then I select display and sound (Anzeige und Sound) then I select audio output, then I select of course speakers --> audiosystem, and priority --> audiosystem, and then try to activate the next item below the "Heimkinosteuerung" (command of the sound system) it shows me the compatible devices - where mine is listed (that`s why I bought it), but then it cannot connect. I really tried nearly all other related settings on both devices. The only way I can control the volume of the soundbar with the remote of the tv is when i connect the devices via bluetoth, but then the quality is worse. Can we set up a screen sharing session or something where you can show me how to successfully connect the devices via HDMI and control the volume of the soundbar with the tv remote? Thank you 🙂

So either those guys doesn't know what are they doing or there is really something wrong with your approach generally. The proposal to solve the problem was to provide older remote, without the "Prime" button - you know: no button, no problem. I love my Sony TV, really, but something wrong happened with your Service through last several years... Pity. Even TCL's service is better provided in our region.

The supplied Voice Remote Control is RMF-TX500U/Standard Remote Control, with advanced voice control as well as easier access to Google Play and Netflix. Also, you can only use the colored buttons on the remote within certain apps. @@SonySupportUSA yeah I guess I am out of luck. It looks like the colored buttons are for wired or cable connected TV functions. We actually are more inclined in the lines of Google Chromecast / Amazon fire stick/Roku This means about 70% of the remote is useless for us. I'd like to point this out because Sony's remote is really at least a generation behind the competition (e.g., LG's magic remote). I also found out that compared to LG's magic remote Sony's remote will not allow me to program the numeric keys to do certain functions. Also I forgot to mention not even KZbin has a dedicated button on this Sony remote. So at this point this is a suggestion for improvement on your end. You have an advanced TV that is supplied with an antiquated remote control.
