Sony Made a Wireless / Wired Gaming Headset? - INZONE H5 Review

Disclosure: Best Buy sent the Sony INZONE H5 to me for free in exchange for my unbiased (written) review on their website. Neither Best Buy nor Sony had any input on my written or video review, and I was not otherwise compensated.
In this video, I give some of my condensed thoughts on the new Sony INZONE H5 Wireless/Wired Gaming Headset. I know there is a ton about this I haven't covered, but feel free to ask any questions on the comments!

I’d say it is a pretty night and day difference. INZONE is overall a better pick-especially for the microphone. However, I would also implore folks to keep an eye out on the upcoming Pulse Elite. I intend to pick one up and review it once it’s available because sound quality is likely going to be significantly better. PlayStation Interactive Entertainment acquired the audiophile headphone manufacturer Audeze who is making the Pulse Elite. I personally use the $299 Audeze Maxwell as my daily gaming headset, and I am hopeful that the $149 price point of the upcoming Pulse Elite will bring high quality sound to a really low price point.

So are the H5’s supposed to be the predecessor of the H7&H3? I was just about to purchase the 7’s when this drop and normally, I’m on top of new releases.

Certainly not “predecessor”, but definitely a different “tier” of features. This is the only INZONE headset that has both wireless and wired analog capabilities. If you’re interested in solely wireless connectivity, the H7 will have a higher battery life rating as well as Bluetooth, but no 3.5mm analog connectivity.

The battery life on the H5 is rated lower at 28hrs compared to 40+ on the MAX, and the MAX does have Bluetooth if that matters to you. The H5 also has the analog wired input if you need a fallback option. There is also a significant weight difference with the H5 being much lighter, but comfort is subjective. I haven’t heard the MAX personally so there’s only so much I can comment on, but I think there are definitely pros and cons to each you’ll need to prioritize and evaluate 😅

I think most people who care about using them exclusively wirelessly would want to lean towards H7 when compared to the H5. 40hrs of battery versus 28hrs. The only “advantage” otherwise may be the weight since the H7 is 325g. That being said, I had the INZONE H9 (330g) and I thought it was quite comfortable despite the additional weight, so I’d agree with you overall.

Hi, I have a problem with my headphones. I charged them all night, then I left them for half a day. Then I came back and once on ps5 shows that they are fully charged and then shows that they are discharged. Additionally, when connected to the console, no messages appear when mute the microphone, change the volume of the headphones or change the game/chat balance. It's like the headphones can't fully connect to the console. Has anyone ever had a problem like this and can solve it?

Did you ensure that the dongle is toggled to PS5 instead of PC? That’s my first suspicion.

Does this headset have an in app ps5 equalizer like the Pulse 3d ? Because the Sony intone h7 h9 lacked that feature which is a huge disappointment.

I know with the H7’s (which are probably the same as the H5’s), there’s no way to adjust the EQ and sidetone on ps5, only on PC. However, if you adjust the sidetone levels on PC, it carries over to the PS5. As far as I know, the EQ does not carry over
