To this day I’ve still never played a handheld game as ambitious as Medal Of Honor Heros. I use to play the multiplayer back in the day soooo much. It supported up to 32 players in a single game which for 2008 was insane! I’m a proud Vita owner but the multiplayer games on the vita only support up to 8 players if you’re lucky. Even most console games to this day still don’t support up to 32 players in games besides a handful. I wish Medal Of Honor Heros was still able to be played online as those were some of the best handheld days to ever exist, and if anyone else ever played you know what I mean!

5:25 as an embedded developer, I have to say thank you for appreciating stuff like this. Optimization based on different hardware is something that often goes unnoticed, but requires a good amount of thought and work to get correct. People generally only notice it when it's awfully done. Anyways, great video as always. I remember being awestruck when I saw coded arms for the first time back when the psp came out. I thought, wow, that's a portable console game? There were some games in here I didn't know about either. Thanks for the great list!

That game made me quite popular in the high school cafeteria. People would even trade me food to play a round. I remember picking it up on my first trip to NYC. I loved how they gave the option to aim with the analog stick and move with the face buttons. Took some getting used to, but once you did it was FAR superior in terms of aiming control for an FPS on PSP. I played it online all the time.

If I remember correctly, some FPS games on PSP had alternate control schemes that allowed you to use the face buttons for movement and the analog stick for aiming. It seems backwards but you get used to it very fast. It would end up working much better and smoother than the stick for movement and face buttons for aiming.

Sweet vid, keep 'em coming. Anyhow, I'm merely surprised he didn't mention the ability to play an assortment of these PSP FPS titles on the VITA with "improved" controls via the dual analog sticks. In fact, a few other individuals also commented on this. It should be noted that games like Battlefront 2 and Resistance: Retribution (for example) can be downloaded onto the VITA, and then one can choose to reconfigure the controls to take advantage of this particular handheld's capabilities if so inclined. Trust me, it makes a world of difference and allows these titles to be played the way they're intended to be played - without the PSP's limitations. Even still, the PSP is a fantastic device and I might have to find a copy of 'Coded Arms' one of these days. Sheesh, I've never even heard of it.

@@MetalJesusRocks Hey Jason off topic question ...Have ya ever played Metal Arms Glitch In The System? If not bro fire it up on the old Xbox its hilarious and plays so good. I truly think its a gem and was supposed to have 3 games ...It was made by Swinging Ape , I don't where those guys ended up but man they really made something special. The mechanics get so fun as the game progresses plus the story is really cool. There is vehicle combat timed races and other fantastic blends of different games. The Xbox version is the one ya need to play , I've tried the ps2 and GameCube version and its way better on the more powerful Xbox. The lighting and frame rate truly makes a better experience overall and honestly feels like a different game then the others. Anyways bro hope your families are doing ok , tough times but gamers are made for these types of situations .

I loved Coded Arms, and I still have my copy. I actually bought it again digitally to play on my vita, and it runs pretty well there. The second analog stick can be mapped to the face buttons, so the gameplay is better. I would disagree that the sequel was better though, I preferred the first one over the second one. There just wasn't as much depth, in my opinion, to the second one. I spent so much time collecting all of the weapons and armor upgrades in Coded Arms, and I played up to level 160 in the infinity level to max out every weapon. I just didn't feel like I wanted to keep laying the same levels on Contagion once I was done with it. Yeah, the gameplay was repetitive on the first one, but the procedurally generated levels made it a different experience every time. I still go back to it occasionally when I want to play something nostalgic.

Medal of Honor Heroes without a doubt the best all around FPS. I remember getting this when it came out. It had 32 player online deathmatch. Just incredible! I played it a ton. The levels were huge too. And its one of the only FPS be it PC, console, handheld I was really good at on leaderboards. Was quite proud of my skill level at it lol. Sucks the servers are no more but great memories of it. The Socom 16 player online mplayer was also great around when the PSP first came out but it was amazing that anyone could go 32.

Aw, bless you dude. That's one of the things I love about the PSP/PS Vita the communities for online were super tight and fun to play with. Medal Of Honour really nailed it on PSP, went back to the days where it was one of the best FPS franchises. The leaderboards maybe down but the love for FPS on sony's consoles never died Killzone Mercenaries for Vita managed to hold out a constantly dedicated player base until just last year and so did Black Ops declassified.

That's what sucks about this new pay-to-play online console fee (fuck you xbox, thanks for nothing!), they can yank the servers when ever they want. You can't go back and revisit old online games. It's total b.s. But they expect you to keep paying "to connect". Such a scam, really. I went straight to PC just for this reason alone. Consoles are only good for campaigns and free to play games like Fortnite, etc. Although most of those F2P games are better on PC. The online fee ruined the console experience.

Dude I had forgotten that I bought Call of duty roads to victory a while back for £3. I've never played it but I'm gonna put it on now. Cheers brother

I still have Coded Arms. It’s a cool game, but now I must hunt down the sequel. Great video.

I think you can download on PSN store still. Then you can play on Vita. Which allows you to adjust the controls to the vita dual analog.

Battlefront 2 plays amazing on the Vita. I got the digital version recently and have been having a blast. You can remap the right analog to give it a better fps feeling.

I got the coded arms and brother in arms d day. I have to say that you can get "that" fps feeling in coded arms. I really love the title menus, level menus, it reminds old gaming, when there was encountles levels with combinations of monsters, difficulties and areas. Also, music is uplifting and when you start shoot headshots it's nice to play. Only thing is not to play Doom eternal at the same time. Also, good thing is to experiment with controls, it is possible to set movement on buttons and camera view on thumbstick

I liked the control scheme for siphon filter. Stick to move and the 4 right buttons are used to aim like a directional pad

Great video. You got all the physical FPS releases. There was a digital only release of N.O.V.A, the gameloft Halo clone, which isn’t bad for a gameloft game except it was released under the Minis line so no multiplayer allowed.

Call of Duty: Road to Victory was my go-to PSP game back in the day alongside the Battlefront games. I actually wore out my CoD UMD, I played it so much. Lol.

Perfect video, many thanx for this. The only fps-game missing is N.O.V.A. Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance (digital only). Oh, by the way, Star Wars Battlefront II is not mentioned in the games-shown-description.

I played coded arms a lot. It takes some time getting used to the controls, but they work. And the game is pretty fun if you play in bursts.
