Hello, I also have an AX700 camera, and from my research, I thought the RM 1BP remote would work with this camera. So, I ordered it from eBay last week. The remote hasn’t arrived yet, and in the meantime, I saw this video. Honestly, I think it will work.

After watching this video I totally agree with Greg I to have a Sony FDR AX700, and its proved very difficult to establish if they work with these cameras, I have also checked out Sony literature but still did not say anything of value regarding the remote socket, I noted according to Sony compatibly chart the do not show its suitable but you have proved it works, I suspect Sony hope you buy the professional version camera to get these features, but you have proved the RM-BP1 controller works with the FDR-AX700, I have just purchased the Manfrotto MVR901ECLA RC Clamp Lanc and can confirm all the features also works when connected to the remote socket on my Sony FDR-AX700, I found the zoom speed control dial on the remote was excellent, you can set it to one speed of your choice, so it does not matter how hard you press the control it does not jump to the next speed, the focus is probably a feature I may not use but I did have a play around with it, focus was fairly slow but was useable to pull focus if required, stop start and record button on the remote worked as expected, overall a really useful bit of kit which will aid any videography masterpiece, thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

But does it do zoom in slow crawl like the NX80 and z9v?

It works with Zoom & Focus wouldn't be without it

Does the focus toggle work for manual focus?

@@gdaphoto thank you very much. If the focus works, I'll buy this one.

@@G2Outdoors So I tested the focus control on the RM-BP1. It works but it is very slow with the Sony FDR-AX700 Camcorder regardless how hard you push the buttons. It is not like the manual focus control on the camera where you spin the Lens Ring and it focuses as fast as you spin it. This could be caused by the limitation of the controller, LANC terminal, or just the way the camera is designed. The Record Review button plays the last file. Manfrotto makes a few different pan handle controllers. The Manfrotto MVR901ECLA might be something you may like as you can select the "rocker" for zoom or focus. There is the bulkier one: Manfrotto MVR901EPLA. But again, I don't know what is affecting the focus speed on my setup: is it the controller? is it the camera? Let me know if you want me to film the speed of the focus with the RM-BP1 controller vs Lens Ring on the camcorder.
