By far my most favourite speakers I've had.
These date back to the mid 90's but unfortunately the stereo that came with them is no around.

In the USA the model for the deck is LBT-D690, speaker is SS-D6900V. I have 2 complete systems, 1 my parents bought decades ago brand new and another i found for sale listed almost 4hrs away, i paid only $40. Definitely worth the drive!

This are a pair of very nice sounding speaker system...The best bass-heavy speaker I’ve owned, but compare to those “DSW” model, is this “SAW” have better bass than “DSW” ?

The woofer you can see doesn't make the bass but there is a hidden woofer in a 4th order bandpass. I wonder if it can be modded to 6th order by replacing the S.A.W cover with another port tuned higher for extra kick bass or would it just sound bad....

Monitor speakers are designed to be more neutral in sound, hifi speakers like the Sony tend to be coloured and sound warmer or brighter. If you know how a set of speakers sound, you can use any ;)

it's just a 4th order bandpass style set up, it will sound different with the cover off. Better or worse I am not sure.

I dont know why. But every sony Speakers or Headphones i heared yet were really mid range heavy and sounded dampened. I do not like it and that is why i dont trust sony in audio. I more like precise bass and brilliant heights.
