Thanks for watching and yeah it's a quick way to capture slow motion or timelapses in-camera.
@RayRomanMedia4 жыл бұрын
@@MarioSoMedia I just watched another video where if you do it the other way with just the higher frame rate you will get a higher bit rate and although you have to slow it down in post your image looks better. I think that way would be best for low light situations, potentially for time lapse but this S&Q way would be great to eliminate the post processing to achieve what you want in camera so long the image is looking good enough.
@MarioSoMedia4 жыл бұрын
Yes for sure! I shoot at a higher frame rate almost 90% of the time since I always spend some time editing everything. You get way better quality. But sometimes if you're just posting on social media S&Q does the job. Unless you have the a7siii then the quality of S&Q is pretty darn good straight out of camera.

Hello Mario, like this video !!! what shutter speed did you use for S and Q in your examples ?
@MarioSoMedia2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I doubled the shutter speed of the frame rate captured. So if it was at 120fps, the shutter speed would be 1/250.
@JoJo-bb6de2 жыл бұрын
@@MarioSoMedia thx Mario for your quick response !!! shutter speed of 1/250 is what i understand for the "slow" motion (double the time for the fps = 2 x 120) but also for the "quick" motion when you use for example 2, 3, or 4 fps ?
@MarioSoMedia2 жыл бұрын
+Jo Jo for quick motion I go by the final output version which is usually 24fps so I usually set it to 1/50. But you can experiment as well depending on how much motion blur you want in your timelapse

If I’m shooting s&q 24p & 120p slow mo do I put my shutter speed at 1/240 or 1/50? Same with 24p & 60p 1/30 or 1/50?
@MarioSoMedia3 жыл бұрын
You would set your shutter speed with the frame rate you are capturing in mind, so if your frame rate is 120, then 1/240 if your intended look is the natural motion blur. In the end it all depends on the amount of motion blur you want.

Is there any quality loss in S&Q mode for slow motion vs doing it the standard way in post? Also, do you have a tutorial on those transitions?
@MarioSoMedia4 жыл бұрын
Yes there is. It's always best to do it the standard way but if you want a quick turnaround and are sharing for instagram, S&Q does the job! I have another video on in-camera transitions that you can do on your phone or any camera. Hope you find it helpful :) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGSllJKgfbqkqNk

hi Mario, I got a question is that is there any difference if I use 100p 100M to shoot and slow it down afterwards, and shoot S&Q mode, 100fps? which one is technically higher quality? this question really bother me a lot, will be appreciate if you can reply
@MarioSoMedia4 жыл бұрын
Hey Daniel! Shooting at normal 100fps (or 120fps) will always be better quality than using S&Q mode. S&Q stitches the video together for you and it's already either slowed down or sped up. S&Q also doesn't capture audio. I would suggest you shoot normally and slow down the footage when you are editing. I only use S&Q if I really don't have time to edit that clip. Hope this helps man!

Hi Mario - when I set 120fps in S&Q mode, an additional frame is displayed on the screen. Initially I thought this might mean that only a smaller section of the view is recorded, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Do you know what this frame is for?
@MarioSoMedia3 жыл бұрын
You mean like a square? Is it the focus point
@HelmutBemboka3 жыл бұрын
@@MarioSoMedia No they're four little corners on the screen. It's a shame I can't send you a photo - but just try it. At 120fps (24p_ you should see them. At 60fps they're not there.

It's a pity that the timelapse does not go lower to 2/4/8/16 seconds per frame.
@MarioSoMedia4 жыл бұрын
Yeah for that you would need to shoot the timelapse the conventional way. But keep in mind that if you shoot at a slower shutter speed, your shooting interval can't be faster than that.
