Redaction in movies is still done with a Sharpie because it looks more dramatic, and because the movie studio can get sponsorships from Sharpie for showing their products. The redaction scene in Adam Driver's "The Report" might have been kinda boring to watch if they just clicked a button. In real life though, it seems totally impractical in today's world of digital documents to use a marker on printed paper.
