Sony says Gen Z want MORE AI in video games?!

AI is everywhere now. And one Sony exec is talking about using it to create more immersive, personalized video games because the YOUTH demand it. Do they, tho?

I don't even understand why splitting people into so called ,,generations". Feels arbitrary. Isn't it all fluid? On a second note i hate how term AI is used right now. Like trying to sell and conveying the message that it can do anything, sky is the limit. Targets imagination without any basis on reality and limitations. Saying everything without actually saying anything. And what we have right now is hardly worthy of AI term. With that said I can see utility in AI. One of the reasons for games getting less dialog option was voice acting. Going from Morrowind to Oblivion, so that is one reason less to put more text in AI mouths. Another thing is with games like Daggerfall. Sort of procedurally generated with big scale. Might help with llightly more varied quests, npc responses etc. But to make it work it needs to be subtle and Corporations are anything but, so results will be worse. On second thought it's hard to come up with ideas what would AI improve in games without blanket statements, which suggest effect might be very limited. And also also even small language model requires quite huge Vram amount, so good luck seeing that in game when it will compete with graphics
