Yes please do another vid to bring this one to a conclusion. Its nice to see a machine running in all its glory.

Nice repair on the sled part. Last one I repaired was done with a metal angle part, bolted to the chassis (you need to drill a couple holes on it). Good preventive maintenance on the power supply! Symptoms from a bad loading encoder are usually the machine opens the mechanism on eject and closes by itself. They fail from time to time. As per the slow wind/rewind symptom, check the brakes on the reel table. Sometimes a bit of clean+oil+drum polish help a lot on these machines. By the way, your beast is now in preparation, will let you know :-)

Great stuff! yes sounds like upper drum wear causing the sluggish problem. that and a worn reel board will do it in. The load motor could use replacing, it sounds like a tractor. You can get it a lot smoother with the sled completely removed, clean up each roller, C-clip and washer, and re-lube so they all roll smoothly again.a replacement motor can be sourced from a Sony 711B3 or any early Sony SLV vhs heap.

Some great tips there again - thank you so much. I have since cleaned all the skate rollers as it was bothering me I'd only done the one and not the rest! I will try and source a motor too. 711B3 decks are very thin on the ground here as Beta was long gone from the market by the time 711B3 type machines came out but good to know on the early SLV VHS Sony decks.

@@MrBetaByte Thanks. yes i wish you guys had more 711B3 machines, a PAL HF2100 would have been cool too. Keep up the great work on these!

I have already repaired some rails for the drawer but I no longer glue them I put there a complete plastic part . My version no longer breaks and runs great 😃

This is great - I've been looking into a metal rail which I'll share once I've perfected it. What plastic do you use for your rail replacement?

@@MrBetaByte I have a plastic plate from 3 millimetre thick that I use for repairs. I have a clip from the prototype repair online. In the meantime I have made some optical improvements but the function is 100% given.

In general this is just the kind of video, subject matter and format I enjoy watching.... However, what really has turned me off quite quickly is that you never actually get to see most of the repairs being done. In this example it got all the way to the broken sled in pieces and then video edit! The next thing we see is it all done, back together and looking perfect. Very dissatisfying as what I really wanted was to see the whole repair process and the techniques used. That's why I and many others watch these things. That format to proceedings is a common theme it seems and it is wasted subscriber potential in my view.

Thanks for the reply and certainly take your comments on board too. Have a look at my previous video on the HF950 sled repair here for seeing it actually being glued: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGqwZpmCf9SXZ6s The problem I have I think is that I've covered so many of the common issues and when I don't show a specific repair item in it's entirety it's because it's already been covered in a previous video. I do need to link to those videos better and I'm in the process of creating specific fault repairs so for example - just showing the details of the sled repair and nothing else but it is a work in progress. Thanks again, it really does help.
