I have purchased an XB31 and I think the same, even the XB20 have a better sound except in term of loudness where the XB31 is better... By the way the XB31 have now a MicroUSB port and that's why I was eager to have it, but event the fabric isn't that great. Too bad :(

The 30 is more rounded in the sub range. The 31 one has a more powerful mid-range and high mid-range. I honestly I think the 31 has more natural high end...the 30 has a more prominent high end but I feel that's the tuning of the speaker.

Thank you, Willington. Well. In my opinion, Xb30 is one of the best speaker in its class. Sony has did a really good job. In this battle, I think Xb30 sounds a little bit better because it has slightly better highs. However, sound difference between then is so tiny, that I give XB31 won this one cause its new features are really an improvement. I didn't have any of then and I probably go with Xb30 cause xb31 hasn't launched in Brazil yet.

Also the xb30 is not fully waterproof and you need a designated DC charging brick for it as opposed to micro-usb

I owned an XB3 and now I own an XB30. Once the Xtra Bass is on, the XB30 sounds way better than the XB3. So, I think XB30 is the best option here (value and sound wise) out of the three

: I don't care for the lights on either speaker so I'll keep my Sony SRS-XB3 (which I bought January 2017 for $120.00 Canadian). It's the perfect size to carry around. I got a wine bottle case that's shaped like a tiny guitar case that holds the speaker and charger. My XB3 still sounds great and it never decreases in volume level when the battery hits a certain percentage like both the XB30 & XB31 which is really annoying...

Sony made big mistake to make 31 sounds more realistic than 30. Try Bach violin sonata or Beethoven violin sonata. Those are typical music that show how artificial treble 30 is and what is the realistic feeling 31 provide. However I know almost no one will use these Bluetooth speakers to listen to classic or most accustic music.

Hey Willington! I definitely like the new micro-USB charging port but it extends the charging time from the original 4 hours to 5 hours which I do not like. Frankly speaking, I would rather stick with the old charging port mainly because it makes my speaker charged up faster.

Just go for the Xb30. It’s much better sounding and less distorted and when you adjust the eq in the songpall app, it sounds even better. When you use the eq on the xb31, it sounds worse.

I own both currently and overall the Xb31 is better and sound quality and looks. The only thing I appreciate about the xb30 more is the sturdyness. I feel like I could be much more careless with the 30. I got my 31 on sale and if you don't own either currently buy the 31 if it's on sale. The 30 will not let you down if your on a budget. I would not recommend buying at full price for the 31. But it is the better of the two. The sale price of 120 USD is a good deal but full price of 150 would not be compared to the xb30 at 90.

Jonney lurdia the xb30 has significantly more bass than the megaboom. It is also louder while retaining most of it's bass. If I were you, I would save the extra $20 and get the xb31.

I compared the XB30 against the XB31(without livesound mode), the sound is nearly the same, i turned extrabass off....treble +6 and bass to the maximum on both speakers and there is no big sound difference. ExtraBass i only activate on high loudness. But i hate this rubber case of the XB30 and guys believe me...after some time this rubber will be like a wet candystick. Overall i got the XB31 for 95€ and for this price it's the better choice. (I sold my XB30 for 89€) micro usb charging (no extra cable), waterproof, nicer design and material of the case ExtraBass can be switched on and off at the XB31 by pressing (Volume -) and (Play) for 3 seconds, Green LED is Standard and White LED is ExtraBass
