What a lot of people don’t realize is the PS5 doesn’t struggle one bit to play 90% of games at 4K @120 FPS. It’s most definitely their monitor/TV holding back. I have a LG C3 paired to my PS5 and it works absolutely beautifully every single time with very little to no hiccups at all, warzone is one of the most demanding games out there, it takes an expensive PC to run it at 4K @120 but my ps5 does it for roughly 2-4 hours a day with little to no issues with frames at all.

Deceptive marketing is not the same as lying legally, so they never said 8K was for gaming and also they said it was only for certain footage… not saying that using deceptive marketing/advertising is good, just pointing out the difference. So if they were actually lying the would owe money to a lot of people in a class action lawsuit, but the made sure to explain all that so when people come with the lawsuit the judge can toss it right up. They could do games like ori will of the wisps in 8k probably, but nobody has 8k capable monitors and or tvs anyway! 4k still isn't standard where 1080p is phased out. These consoles could do some smart shit like not do the upscaling work themselves and feeding a direct 1080p to 1440p signal and allowing the tv to do so instead. By saving that large margin of compute power and having that overhead for higher fidelity and or fps. Most 4k tv's so a pretty good job of upscaling themselves.

it was marketed for VIDEO but gaming is technically possible for games with really simple graphics, the issue is that almost no one owns an 8K display. Never mind that most people don’t even have the space for a TV that is large enough to make 8K even worth it. minimum is about 85in

I think 8k refers to the polling rate because when you overclocked it, you need to send to 8000Hz to get it to 1 ms

It wasn't actually meant for 8k videos but Sony never did the firmware update for it, sadly we will never get 1ms response times on console, it'll always be over 100ms, the PS5 and Series X/S both have a 100ms latency over wireless and wired controls over HDMI 2.1, then you have to factor in your TV/Monitor which is still going to be over 60ms minimum, the day we can achieve a true 1ms response time is when we get over 1000fps in a game
