For me, it's comfort over sound.. As you can't listen long if the headset is uncomfortable.. So it's an easy win for sony for me, if you got the razer black shark v2 pro, I think it's the same in terms of comfort..

After listening to both sound clips I have to agree the song sounds better with the extra bass... the Q45s sound like it's coming from a old crispy radio set the Sony sounds more full and the bass compliments the guitar strings... I think it may be down to preference but, maybe the sound profile fits the song better after comparing the two I think I'm glad I stuck with my Sonys.

Solid comparison. Glad I found this as I just picked up the Sony on Christmas Eve. Q45 mids and highs are more pronounced in the tests. Soundcore definitely wins the value for $$ category. Would have been nice if Sony made them fold vs. laying flat for storage. Thx for testing!!

I have the q35's and I think they sound phenomenal once EQ'ed. Only complaint is the pressure the band gives, they are way too lose(needs to be tighter, almost much tighter) and I prefer a more oval shaped cup rather than rounded. Other than that, for $99 bucks they sound killer. Idk if the 45's have the same driver in them or not... The q35's have great detail, great seperation, great bass, great highs. I can't complain about the quality of audio, especially when using an Amazon music or streaming through tidal music.

Yea i bought the q45s a few days ago and was shocked by the lack of bass, once you turn on the bass up options the "bucket" sound gets waaaay worse. I bought myself a pair of sony xb910 and will probably retunrn the 45s soon

And i was negatively surprised by the Q45s cause I own other Anker speakers and they sound really good for the price, even having good bass. Maybe they just need more time to adjust to the headphones world

Yes, this: ability to keep ANC on during a Teams call (and/or a phone call)! I recently purchased a used pair of Sony WF1000 XM4 earbuds, and while I’m satisfied overall, I’m surprised to see that ANC is always set to ”hearthrough” when I start a call! I can tap the ANC on in the app during a call, but it’s not at all as effective as it normally is. It seems that the mics are needed for voice pick-up, and can’t be used for ”full suppression” of the noise around me at the same time. None of the many KZbin reviews I’ve watched have noted this!

@@TheChudoviste I’ve not tried the Q20, but the sucking feeling with ANC on is something I notice a lot on the Q30s, and the Q45s if the noise cancelling is turned up high to like 4 or 5. For me the Q45s were very good unless I moved around. On a train or bus, standing or sitting still, no worries. Hit a bump in the road or walk around then the ANC freaks out. The bass response goes all over the place.

I own both of these headphones and would say the soundcore Q45 is a bit better overall. Build quality goes to the Soundcore Q45 it feels more premium. Sony CH720N feels more cheap but on the plus side they are lighter. The ANC is also better on the soundcore there's really no contest here. Sound quality I feel the Sonys edge ahead here but they both produce good audio. The Sonys sound better straight out of the box(for me at least) They sound more lively than the soundcore Q45. The soundcore is good but they can seem disappointing until you tinker with the EQ settings within the App.

As for the Sony I am absolutely satisfied with the build quality, I have handled it a bit more roughly than my Q30 and it did not even crack. Plus it's soo light I often forget I'm wearing headphones. My only small problem is that because of my glasses nc gets a bit dampened :(

Soundcore q45 not gonna lie are real uncomfortable for me though, only wearing for 10 minutes can already cause sweating, I can always feel the tight clamp of the headphones and the heavy af weight on my ears isnt helping. I think many reviewers prob forgot to mention the comfort is quite subjective, anyways I will be selling my q45 to get the 720n because lightweight is best honestly

My Q45 microphone is not working when trying to do video and voice recording on my iPhone and iPad. I tried recording using the Camera app, instagram, tiktok and voice memos but the mic from the iPhone and iPad picked up my voice and not the headphone mic itself. Is this normal?

Ive tried using a pair of non-electronic ear defenders, but I felt as if they sometimes blocked out too much noise. I would personally say the Sonys just because they’re much lighter, more comfortable, and have less clamp. If you’re going to be wearing them for long periods of time to help with your auditory issues then it would be nice to have the more comfortable headphones. Also, the Sonys have better noise cancelling.

i went back and forth listening to the samples vs listening to the original song to find which matched better. both didnt match the original song. the Sony bass was too booming, but you could see potential in the sony that bringing down the bass slightly would fix it. the soundcore had the voice almost clipping as if you were listening through radio. so overall the sony has more potential to be the best with tuning. good review especially for the samples!

IDK I'll have to figure out where I can try the 720ns in person. I've found that the sound and ANC samples don't quite do the headphones justice. The space q45s have a really shrill treble that makes voices sound like they were recorded through a tin can, but the Sonys sound almost muffled by the bass. And it's not a case of the highs being too high, Grados are some of my favorite sounding headphones in some cases, but the highs just sound out of tune almost.

I have purchased several Soundcore headphones. I have found the plastic on those headphones to be very sub-par. For example, the plastic on the Q30 headband cracked and broke apart not.long after purchase.The headband is now held together with black duct tape. Also, the ear cushions split and fall apart, replacements aren't any better.

Return the q45's do to the fit was just not right, there was no curvature for ears and head. NoiSe cancelling was good. Returned the 720's do to poor noiSe cancelling, Sony has good fitment

Yes the soundcore does have the better ANC and I miss it. The pressure on the 720n is almost not noticeable with ANC on at least. I did noticed the ear vacuum feel with the soundcore but it was much better ANC.

My Sony XM3 I bought about 3 years ago just gave out. As in the battery refuses to charge. I have not mishandled it. Have cheap headphones that are older then it and were used more that still work fine. Im kind of done w Sony right now. Their build quality is questionable. 😢😅 Hoping these q45's will last me longer. My xm4 is 2 years old then the left hinge broke when I lifted them up from bed, never dropped or anything. Estimation from Sony ,$ 110+ + for a set of headbands replacement. I googled it and it’s known issue for xm4. 😢

Curious to know how this turned out. When I was reading owner reviews of the Q45s, there seemed to be a very consistent report that they crack and break because of the cheap plastic.

I really like Soundcore. I had two Q30s. Yes two. I had to return both because the plastic breaks so easily. Which is really dissapointing. And now I am here because I am wondering if a Sony will be a better long term commitment because the plastic will be more durable. Ug... Low quality plastic is a problem with Soundcore. Awesome sound. Awesome performance. But no use if I can't wear it because the one ear cup is dangling loose on cables 😑😑😑😒😒🙄🙄🙄

From your sample i like the sound of the sonys so much more. The Soundcores sound a bit tinny and cheap. I'm relieved that i bought the sonys.

although sony emphasizes bass and has a bit recessed mid, it feels easier and better to listen. sound feels direct and soothing.

If you have good ears get q45 due to bigger drivers. Thing is that most people don't have good ears and don't care about hires music.

I just got it yesterday. The sound quality is good for this price. The NC is at a good level but the material is not very good for me. ,It looks like the plastic of a cheap headphone. However, the sound quality and NC are satisfactory.

i dont know how soundcore is but sony made a very fair and comfortable pair of headphones..i can nearly forget them.. And i prefer sony's anc from this sample . But i trully believe that sony has more bass in general.. I know her years. I am not the biggest fan of it , but doesnt really consern me .

so you compare an ldac with a non ldac headphone? Just by reading the comments I understand that most of the readers have no clue (for example: no, iphone doesnt support ldac). Maybe time for an update ?

Tried LDAC, APTX. Cant tell the difference against SBC and AAC. If you want better details or a real hi-res go wired earphones. Dont be fooled with these kind of gimmicks. It draws more power and the connection is unstable. Even the latency is intolerable.

Just a humble note: Q35s are better than the Q45s. The Q45 somehow does worse when it comes to audio quality and app features. Don't ask me why Soundcore did this, it's just how it is.

No it doesn't. Q35 and older fans think better bass is better sound but it isn't. Q45 goes for neutral sound so more crisp and details compared to q35.

Both are worse since Q30 are just way better. Its like Q30 is the mistake they made 'suffering from success', and i remember they update it to having less feature.

​​@@frankreynolds9930 You have no clue what you're talking about. Sounding like something playing from a bucket does NOT sound more neutral or crips than what the q35 do. Yeah out of the box the q35 is bass-heavy, but the mids and treble have a more natural sound to them compared to what we get with the q45, and unlike the q45, they don't sound like they're being played from a bucket. It isn't just about 'Oh the q35 is more bass heavy and the q45 is not'. Its about how natural and even the rest of the spectrum is.
