I always found Jbl Xtreme to have really sharp and at times, screeching sounds, whereas I prefer more soothness and balanced vocals (as in Sony and Charge 3) Don't get why everyone supports Xtreme :/ It even came to a point when I wanted to cover my ears when Xtreme was playing up in real life

They both have their goods and bads, I have the jbl extreme and I really like it, i have had Sony and I didn’t really like it as much. But I like how much bass the Sony has at lower volume percentage. But when the Sony has the higher volume percentage, the music when people were singing sounded like crap compared to the jbl extreme.

JBL had superior highs that were very crisp, and the base sounded real. On the Sony speaker the highs were just part of the mid range having no clear distinction to separate them from the ready of the song, the base on the Sony was also very empty sounding leaving me with a lot to be desired. The JBL has amazing sound separation with Sony the Sony speaker sounding over all mushy and fake, the people that are saying "Sony had Fuller sound" mush have been using cheap headphones or just the speakers on there phone.

No, supposedly if u hold the Bluetooth and volume down button for 10 second it activates "low frequency mode", if u search up jbl xtreme low frequency mode it shows the difference but I think u have to take the shell off but I was mainly saying it as a joke but it is a real thing

+Tyler Adams I've heard of it, but I don't use because that's not the way the speakers are supposed to be used. I've talked to about 3 JBL reps and they have no Idea what it is and don't recommend it so that's why I don't use it my videos. If the start advertising it as feature, then I will use it 😀

As a portable speaker fanatic myself, I feel like I need to share my thoughts with you here. Firstly, just to get this out of the way, I'm going to try my best not to pick any sides in this match-up since being neutral is usually the best, so without further ado, here is my opinion : As I had the pleasure of listening to all of these speakers, I can confidently say that this wasn't such a fair match-up. I mean, yeah sure the Xtreme wins against the XB40 hands down (again, you don't have to take me as an expert, I'm just sharing my experience with these tow respectable speakers since I spent quite a while testing them IRL and online and after a while, came to this conclusion) the XB40 is rather a match to the Charge 3. They both had their times when each sounded better than the other, so it's pretty safe to say the're quite similar when it comes to audio quality, and as a group (considering the Xtreme's sound quality combined with that of the Charge 3) I think JBL is the winner here. I guess the only speaker I haven't quite checked properly is the XB20, since...well in my opinion, when I first checked it out it sounded...muffled. I think I was unlucky with the one I got my hands on, but it just wasn't what I was expecting. As opposed to what your thoughts may be on the audio quality in this video (not saying it's bad by ANY means), they sound different IRL. If you ask me, all of these speakers sound amazingly good, but I have to give credit to JBL here (again, based on experience). So..yeah that's pretty much it. Sorry if I wasted your time, but I felt like I had to share some of my thoughts with you :D.

JBL are the better speakers. Two of the Sony speakers are at max volume. This makes a difference when judging. A BIG difference. While the JBL are still putting out plenty of clear sound. With only "TWO" speakers. I would run with JBL speakers Over Sony speakers any day.

One more thing to add... you can also "kill" the bass on the Charge 3, by pressing the BT and Vol down keys for 10 sec. Not everybody knows it, I think. To "bring back" the bass, hold again the BT and the Volume down keys for 10 secs again.

JBL Sound in this video is much better, however in live as a comparison with SONY it was very weak and it's more costly to get the same power from JBL. I'd also prefer to use SONY as It gives me much more options and I can personalize the sound the way I like through the app and It's great. I love the SONY speaker performance, it is a really strong & beautiful HQ sound!!!

After getting the XB40, and also the GTK-XB7 (XD Not in this video), I realized a few things. First of, I WISH THEY OULD PARTY CHAIN!!!! Second, I saw JBL in a DEMO and t sounds quite a bit better than videos can show. I have 2 XB40's now and will be getting an JBL extreme soon. Both have their highs, or in Sony's case, it has more "lows", if you know what I mean.

Joshua Feenstra Probably wait for the JBL Boombox, gonna be a beast! But if you're after that low, rich, clean bass. Go no further than the Harman Kardon Go+Play 2016 version. After hearing the Go+Play, Xtreme sounds like shit. Downsides are less portability and battery life. But I'd rather quality of sound for a shorter period than a shitty quality over a longer period. Or as I said earlier, wait for the JBL Boombox. Rumored to have a 24hr battery (20,000 mAh).

You say Sony has more bass on low volume, this is because the passive radiator of Sony is facing front, microphone pick it up easily, while the xtreme has it on it sides, try putting your microphone on the either side of xtreme and you'll see 😀

Charge 3 sucks when compared head 2 head with xb30 But on the other hand, xtreme wins when compared with xb40 So conclusion? Idk =)) But i decided to go with the xb30 cuz the xtreme way too big to carry round And when the sony's volume is under 50%, turn the extra bass off. Turning it on when over 50% vol helps alot. And leaving extrabass on when using it under 50% makes the bass overboosted. So yeah :)
