I have owned these two. The MDR 1000x would be flawless if they featured the xtra bass. The noise cancellation is Awesome. I sold them 3 days after i bought tho because i was not really happy with the bass. Now i own the xb950n1.

Try tke newer 1000x. You can customize the bass. Not sure if it'll be like the 950s but it'll increase the bass.

I just got the bose qc35 ii which is a competitor to 1000x and I returned them after 1 day. The bass is just to weak. When I turned the volume up to hear more bass the disc just killed my ears.

Sony MDR-1000x has more elevated bass than reference sound. Bose has more kinda reference level bass. If you think MDR-1000x is lacking bass, you are liking artificial sound. Nothing wrong with that, people can like what ever they want.

Love the XB950s - i have them along with many other headphones (BoseQC35, Beats Pro, Harmon Kardon...) I always use the Sony XBs. the bass is insane and addictive. Battery life is also amazing.

To me the 950 are great for working out but as primary headphones the sound is too veiled in the mids. But yes look for a sale as the video says. At $250 these are priced too high., at the $125 I found them out they are a great bargain. Just picked up the 1000X2 for home use. So far very impressed. Anyone tried the Audio Technica 7BT. I was very impressed with the clear sound but no noise cancelling, a very iffy BT connection in the park, a proprietary cable and awkward controls drove me to the Sony 1000 X2. I think I'll be as pleased with the sound.

I owned a pair of the Sony MDR-XB950N1’s and the only thing I’ll say is down the long haul the frame isn’t as sturdy. Mine ended up breaking do to all the folding and compacting them places. But they lasted as far as quality in sound goes. I know headphones, and one thing for sure is the “Bass” was just that. Straight BASS bangin and enough to hear the lyrics clearly. It sounds like you’re in a car with a bass system in there. But they’re only headphones that’s the crazy part. Idk about those “1000’s” headphones, I’m looking for a replacement pair for the one I broke from usage. I also like how you can turn the “Bass effect” on or off, including the noise cancellation feature. You can also Bluetooth the headphones just by swiping your turned off headphones by your phone. They’ll Bluetooth and turn on at the same time. I miss those headphones. I bought mine from Best Buy for like $250-ish with tax. If I can find headphones with harder Bass than the 950’s point me to it

Well... Noise canceling- mdr1000 95% sounds. XB950 - 60%. Checking this right now and...wow... those MDR1000 easily beats Bose35 at all, amazing. But there is something.... CABIN PREASURE-- its very bad :( Its almost crush as hard as it was by Bose25. On XB950 this preasure almost not exitsing, it makes this headphones amazing NC to pain relation. Now I am learning how to focus and get used to this pain on MDR1000....

I bought XB950N1 because they are cheaper (2x) and has xtra bass. NC is better in MDR1000x, but Its creazy to spend a lot o money only for NC.

I’ve had Sony mdr1000x for like a year. No problems with durability. Bass is little higher than reference sound, but not annoyingly loud. Noise cancellation excellent. I don’t almost hear cars on a highway. I personally choose these over bose and sennheiser highend bt cans for sound quality and still am convinced it was the right decision.

I had Skullcandy crusher wireless 3 years if it break then my fault but It never break crack. Ive seen a couple of reviews and I like how you point out details that I need to make a good decision. Good on you mate! I am about to buy one of these bad boys. I would like to know if certain music apps (like Poweramp) with equalizers can help raise the bass on the 1000X to satisfy me enough to forego the X950. Ive listened to a wired demo in-store and wasnt satisfied. But maybe because it wasnt my player, my settings and my music. And does the X950 look really stupid in public?

@@chialor1945 is that all you own? the bass is overrated... It's loud bass not those pure clean natural kick bass you get, though the sound is real clear and good but I still don't like it. It's overrated cause alot of Meka people like it hype about it that's it sound better then other headphone when you can get cheap 100 dollar headphone that just sound already good. I prefer you to try Sony xb550ap wired 30mm that's is a better headphone. I use to own Sony xb950n1 sold it cause hate it. Cons sound rubbish but it's clear. Bass is loud not pure clean kicking. NC is mild not as good as Anker NC. It make you look ugly. It need to charge 7 hours. Clamp force will hurt your head. Price is overprice for 250.

Seriously guys,, im out of topic. But XB950B1 black, is a top on style and sounds the same as N1. Noise cancel is useless for me,and most of people dont need it. Stainless headband on XB950B1 is visible and no paint on it,swivle color is black ink-like,so theres like blueish color wich is very cool appearance under the sun/outdoor.and with metalic red strip on it. Wow!! And its much cheaper!!!!
